After The 40% taxes on the earned interest, it's only $4.7 million/year net. Not even worth playing.

I all honesty, I'd give enough to charity as a write-off against the 877 mil, to leave me with a $1 mil/year net annuity. Even that might be too much to not ruin your children.

To me it doesn’t I’m thinking the random numbers selected by a machine would change every second meaning if the “winning” ticket was purchased 30 seconds later the numbers would have been different but idk how those machines work

Agree. Would be instantly obvious to the community if there is a new Ferrari in town.
But if the winner has the fortitude to keep their same car, keep their same house (or apartment), which is next to impossible, eventually lifestyle changes will reveal themselves in the form of trips, cruises, attending big events/concerts.
No one (except perhaps Warren Buffet) who lives middle or low income can sit on $500+ million after-taxes money and not eventually make a lifestyle change that people will notice.
Make a lump sum pay off on your mortgage? Now the banker knows. No more house note = more money to spend, and people will notice.
Remaining anonymous would be very difficult in a small town, rural county type of situation, where everyone knows your business.

Honestly if I won that much money, I probably would spend a stupid amount of money on dumb shite. I would put a lot of it away, donate to charity, invest in businesses, stocks, etc. But at least 50-75 million will be wasted for absolutely no other reason but just cuz I can
