Oh and the food is better in Louisiana

My friend in law school was from Amarillo, TX. He came up to me one day super excited and said, “man I’ve been here 3 years and finally found a good meal!!!”

I chuckled and asked him where he ate and he replied, “the chicken fried steak at TWIN PEAKS!”

Hard to believe someone was so hard up for a decent meal in maybe the third best food destination in this country.

You really want to talk about College Station being gay? Have you been to New Orleans?

The only place gayer than College Station

A lot of the LA transplants who moved to Texas probably have family back home in Louisiana that are growing older. Some of them move back to Louisiana to care for their elderly parents or grandparents.

One thing I’ve noticed about the older generations of families in Louisiana is that they are super attached to the state. They know it’s a shite hole and that the opportunities there are few to none, yet they could not stand to live anywhere else.

Austin is gayer than both cities. College Station is actually a pretty conservative town

It’s like the old saying “I wasn’t born in Louisiana but I got here as quick as I could”

Literally no one has ever said that.

Maybe welfare queens moving there for dey check? It’s got to be one of the only reasons to sign up for that much murder, poverty, and committed illiteracy.

The only way that I could justify moving to LA from TX would be to buy land cheaper to retire on. I wouldn't be anywhere near I-10 or I-20.

Huh? What does this mean? There are much worst places in Texas than Houston.

It’s like when an American moves to a third world country. He’s instantly one of the smartest, richest, and best looking people there. This is why Texans move to Louisiana.

What reason would you have for coming here
Obviously you don't know anything about Texas.

It ain't what folk lore would have you to think it is.

and it's getting worse.

If you’re a seafood guy.

The prime rib and steak in TX is far superior to anything in Louisiana. I’d say all non-seafood meat is better in Texas.

Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican is also way better in TX.

Texas food > Louisiana food imo.

And IMO a lot of the best food in LA is made at home. I didn't forget how to make Louisiana food when I moved to TX.

Couldn’t find a job in Louisiana?

I left my job in Louisiana for one in Texas.

But to your point, career mobility in Texas is much easier than Louisiana.

Pretty much depends on your situation.. both have great things… both have terrible things…
Fortunately my life situation allows me to enjoy the great and avoid the bad..

I keep a place in both states.. and spend a lot of time on I 10…

But in Louisiana ….LSU activities… food… easy commute in general…green landscape and swamp water (I like the swamp)

Other times in Texas ….bbq…southern comfort food…clear streams….i also like clear water.. and the big one…Excellent medical…great schools when I had kids at home..

My dad always said great thing about retirement is you can live where you want and enjoy the good and avoid the bad…

Sorry your friend can’t cook or didn’t marry someone that can cook?

Don’t eat out if there’s not great options.

Mardi gras, king cakes, crawfish boils, LSU games, great times, parades, festivals, cajun culture and food, The Saints, hunting and fishing, good people, good family and friends, closer to the Florida beaches, etc.

Yeah, why would anyone not hate Louisiana?

I understand you can do most of that in Texas, but we all aren't pussies like most of the baws on this board and we like our state for the good and hope the bad can improve.
