Tesla CEO Elon Musk is a nice guy who doesn't know how to run a car company, Bob Lutz, former vice chairman of General Motors, told CNBC on Tuesday. "They will never make money on the Model 3 because the cost is way too high. He's got 9,000 people in that assembly plant producing less than 150,000 cars a year. The whole thing just doesn't compute. It's an automobile company that is headed for the graveyard," he said on "Closing Bell." Lutz's comments come after news of a criminal probe into Tesla, as well as a new competitor hitting the market in the form of Audi's new electric car.

It is way over valued and has been for a while, but I doubt it goes into the graveyard. The demand for his vehicles is there, they just need a better CEO and COO to figure out manufacturing and supply chain issues.

The vehicles are pretty fricking badass too.

I think the biggest thing that would hurt Tesla is if other car manufacturers figure out that people don't want to drive nerdy Prius looking cars and that most people would be open to switching to electric vehicles eventually if more of them looked like Tesla's.

Higher end companies have figured that out (BMW, Jaguar, etc.).

Government motors CEO telling Elon Musk how to run a car company is like Robert Mugabe telling Jamie Dimon how to run JP Morgan.

Once Tesla's value comes back down to Earth to attract suitors, I can see Elon selling the company and using the profits to fund his next venture.

I'd love to see Tesla sold to Google. Google has some of the best engineers on the planet and the capital to burn

Elo ln jumped the gun with full automation. He is aware that he screawed this part up but there are too many believers and backers in the game who will not let tesla fall.

If you look at their financial reports and know what you are looking at, you’d realize that they certainy are fricked. Been lookin fricked for the past year.

Edit: Im surprised their they still as many investors as they do. Some have been backing out obviously, but they basically have no forecasted revenue to pay their investors. Yet they are still being invested on at a heavy rate cause “Elon is the futuristic God.”

Tbh, he’s just a futuristic automobile CEO of a product that isn’t ready to be mass produced. He’s a weee bit too early in his delivery.

Full automation doesn't require 9000 workers.

That plant had a capacity of 300,000 plus unit's per year with half the workforce prior to Tesla buying it.

A point Lutz was making.
