I still don't understand your point. Should everyone get subsidies except Elon Musk? Should no one get subsidies?

Tesla Motors, much like Bitcoin/crypto, is a religious outlet for futurophiles. "Buy and hold" is tremendously important.
If you give up hope on your Tesla, you're admitting that the utopian future you bought into was a farce, an illusion. Many just can't face that fact, so Tesla just keeps chugging along.

My personal belief, none should be taking them.
For the point of this thread, Lutz shouldn't be criticized for taking government funds when all car companies do it.
It is a fault in logic to assume the GM failure makes his opinion null and void.

The power of the brand will keep it floating until they can cut costs

4.9 billion dollars in government assistance as of 2015?
That's all? Hell, GM took almost 3 times that in one year getting bailed out.

I'm not a musk homo but this is such a lie. First sale of a Bolt was Jan 2017 and the model 3 started shipping in July 2017.
Why do you lie?

Tesla has sold about 200K cars to mostly wealthy folks in it's entire history. So that's around $24,500 per car. Tesla employs around 37,500 employees.
GM got $49.5 billion in the bailout but paid back $39 billion of that. Meaning GM actually got about 9.5 Billion, roughly twice the amount Tesla got. GM sold about 3 million cars just in 2016, across the economic spectrum. That's less than $3200 per car for just 1 year. GM employs around 213,000 employees

Tesla paid back it's loan nine years early and with roughly 27 million in interest.

Everyone's gotta start somewhere.
