FB has been entertaining. A female friend started a post yesterday about staple items that are available or scarce/out at the local WM and Brookshires. Naturally, it became hot and others were sent to neighboring places, who reported back to the thread. As you can imagine, they're panic buying and doing exactly what they 'couldn't understand' during the toilet paper famine of 2020. Apparently, biscuits, crescent rolls and the like were a contingency which quickly disappeared thanks to them

Went to Wal Mart last night, was a total zoo, empty shelves galore, long checkout lines.
Went to Kroger's a couple hours ago, wasn't bad at all.

It's gonna be like a two day thing in Houston, maybe that. Why are people freaking out?

For any Dallas folks, the Highland Park Whole Foods has everything still stocked as of an hour ago. Probably something to do with the fact that a can of tuna was $2.50 but if you absolutely have to have something you can find it there.

A lot of people are trying to make it political to use as a weapon against Republicans and use as a vehicle to push Beto.
Beto's entire campaign has been a single issue one about the power grid. He has nothing else.

Seems like the cold front is moving a bit faster than what the NWS predicted.
Really?
From the NWS discussion posted right above your post:

Our county was almost always one of the last to cancel. Many nights we'd go to bed thinking we had school only to wake up in the AM to it being canceled.
The feeling of disappointment as the list scrolled across the bottom of the local tv channel with more and more schools being added but not ours would grow with every update. Our investment was great. Our letdown was even greater when our county never popped up in the scroll.
