Exactly, because he wrote it before the incident. Thats why it doesnt match up.
They usually prewrite these things and then plant evidence.
Do you want to have a real discussion or are you just going to act like a child?

Tell that to this guy.
bro i am almost always on the cops side when in these situations
but you roll up on private property and you dont even ask questions....just tell the kid to get his hands behind his back and then after justify it by saying he was suspicious and you then lie and say you couldnt see his hands......yea frick that cop.
I posted exactly how its supposed to be handled
1) cop roles up with a smile and idenitfies himself and explain why you are questioning him
2) ask the suspect if he lives there, what his name is and if he doesnt live there ask his address
3) let the suspect know you are going to knock on the door to verify
4) talk to homeowner and verify
5) apologize for any inconvience, shake the guys hand and wish them an amazing day
6) leave and profit
your train of thought is everyone is a suspect. and the video is about armed suspects and making a decision quickly.
Cops have a hard job, the public sucks, especially the ones they deal with. But they make mistakes, its ok to admit that and not hide behind it.
plant operators have a hard job when the unit is in upset mode. if they make a mistake and someone dies, they are held accountable....they dont get to say....well you try it.
being a cop is pretty simple so long as you understand it is ok to let someone get away and "getting the bad guy" is not worth getting innocent people killed or yourself and other cops killed.

Yeah no. A cop has to have a legitimate reason to arrest somebody and isn't allowed to taser a person just b/c they feel like it.

Images from the blm bullshite come to mind and the way they treated cops who were just standing there having to take it...
i agree. i would never want to be a cop and deal with the public. doesnt make what the state trooper did correct nor lawful.

I agree. The cop just wanted to taze the kid for pissing him off.
But the mother even said her son "should've listened, but the cop took it to far".
The mother actually put a little of the blame on her son. If she did, why can't you?
And why are we talking about this story this much? I feel like a facebook moron now.

Ive already contributed that the cop was an a-hole and the kid was an a-hole. Thats the jist of the situation. 2 assholes met up and neither could figure out of only one of them tried to not be an a-hole for 10 minutes both of their days could have been better.
Dude could have gotten laid and the cop could have just been on his way.
Now I'll continue to mess with everyone using the term bootlicker.

Serious question...
Can a cop "detain" you though which is different than arresting?
Seems like cops can detain you for anything. Wondering if that what the poster was meaning there..

Some of these other comments baffle me. There was zero probable cause here. Suspicion is not a crime.

Trooper Smyrnios did find some medical marijuana on the teen, so he will also face a drug possession charge. The experts don’t think that charge will stick because the initial arrest was unlawful.

What is it that you find reasonable in "put your hands behind your back" in this situation? What is it that you find reasonable with the cop approaching the kid with his taser at the ready?
Cops job is to defuse, not escalate, and all he did was escalate.

The cop could have just sat there and waited for the gf to come out and confirm that the guy was indeed going in that house.
But that would have wasted precious time he could have been writing old ladies tickets for expired inspection stickers.

Well, this thread has devolved into a bullshite argument between people who hate cops and people who support cops.
And that is where you are dead wrong. I'm not sure even one person in this thread hates cops. What they hate are really bad actions and decisions by cops.

So, NOW, you want all cops to ignore suspicious looking characters who duck into other people's backyards upon seeing a cop patrolling a neighborhood because ducking a cop and entering through someone's backyard MIGHT be the way the person always takes to go into a house -- instead of going to the front door and knocking like 99.99999% of the human f*cking population.
Or maybe just maybe, the cop should have given the girlfriend a minute to come and open the door. He said she was coming and if the cop had waited 30 seconds instead of tasering the kid out of anger that he wasn't immediately letting him cuff him this could have been avoided.
The kid wasn't a threat, he has a plausible explanation for being there, and he was standing there casually enough that it was pretty obvious he wasn't going to dart off.
Instead cop goes OH KID IN BLACK CLOTHES GOING TO BACK DOOR EQUALS THIEF MUST ARREST" like a fricking idiot. He damn near killed that kid with the way he fell back into the fire pit all b/c he couldn't handle a teen mouthing off to him.

i have in like 10 other post
kid was a giant douche bag too. it was like two giant douchebags met on the back porch, one just happened to have a tazer. both were idiots

It says that when such an attempt involves a misdemeanor the officer had better have a frickton of underlying context for doing so. "He wouldn't pull over" or "I though he was acting suspiciously" simply doesn't cover it.
Had Lange run over a kid or a mailbox, or run someone off the road, etc. then the officer would have been completely within legal rights.
Maybe or maybe not. Santana was a felony case, but the need to preserve evidence created the exigency necessary to overcome the warrant requirement.
The bottom line is that flight alone is not a categorical exception to the warrant requirement in all cases.

Sure
But more should be expected from a cop than a teenager.
If you can't handle a mouthy teen giving you static for what looked like maybe 2 minutes at best you shouldn't be allowed to have the power to kill a person.
