Ok, it is perfecly normal activity to approach a home thru hedges into a backyard.
Dude us neighborhood kids were CONSTANTLY cutting through yards and entering friends’ and girlfriends’ houses through the back.

In what world is this weird? And the only yard this kid was in was the one he was supposed to be in.

Yeah.

Cop has got to be above some punk kid. Imagine letting a kid get into your head like that.

No he can’t. Not without permission or probable cause.

Except when proven wrong, you brought it back to the facts of this case.

And, fortunately or unfortunately, it's pretty much my normal speech pattern. I picked it while working for a major banking firm. Everyone spoke this way, especially the women.

Do you use a regular mop at this major firm, or one of those fancy floor scrubbers?

So you didnt get what I was alluding to? You have to be a suspect or have a warrant to do that. Cops dont have ultimate authority to do whatever they want. There are things like the constitution and laws you know...

Not unless they are chasing someone, they believe there is an emergency situation inside or they have a warrant.

US Supreme court just ruled UNANIMOUSLY today that cops can't pursue a suspected drunk driver into his garage w/o a warrant. LINK

I didn't know one f*cking person who did that when I was a kid. Hell, I don't know anyone who has ever done that.

If someone had showed up in my backyard, my mom or dad would have read him/her the riot act and told them to go around to to front door and knock or ring the doorbell like a normal f*cking human being (my dad liked to curse as much as me).

Good, you’re correct for once. Most suspects would give permission, however, rather than risk not complying. The cop sure as hell is not going to let him go in alone.

Using your own words. Not quoting me. Trying to change contexts.

FINALLY! You rang the big bell.

The problem we have in our society with police centers on the sentiment in your statement. “The right way” is classically subjective. Many people’s interactions with law enforcement, such as this kid’s, don’t go well because of a subjective opinion that the officer doesn’t have the authority to do what he is doing. They have to learn the hard way. Cops on the street don’t have the time to educate them in a formal, academician manner.

Same here

Depending on what friend's house you were going to, some you just always went through the backyard and knocked on the backdoor. Just how it was when I was a kid.
