SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. —
A Simpson County couple killed during a home invasion have been identified by the coroner as Bill Blair, 74, and Carol Blair, 71.
Cordarius Hobbs, 17, is accused of killing the couple inside their home on W.L. Blair Road and shooting a Simpson County deputy in what investigators believe was a burglary. Hobbs is charged with two counts of capital murder, armed robbery, burglary and home invasion. He is jailed in Rankin County.

The incident began shortly before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when deputies responded to a home on W.L. Blair Road near Mendenhall after relatives reported they had been unable to contact the homeowners. Simpson County Sheriff Paul Mullins said when deputies arrived, the front door was open

Mullins said the suspect opened fire on deputies from inside the residence, striking one deputy. The deputy was treated for his injuries and is recovering at home.
The shooting sparked a large law enforcement response involving the Rankin County Sheriff's Office, Mississippi Highway Patrol, SWAT teams and several other agencies. After six hours, tear gas was deployed, leading the suspect to run from the house, firing as he went, according to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.

A Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper returned fire, injuring the suspect. Hobbs was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for what MBI said were non-life-threatening injuries before he was taken to jail.

"Teen" equals black teenager. No one refers to white teenagers as just teens. Our media is so racially biased.

If those were the victims, you can see the racism in their eyes. If they haven't used the N word before, you know they were thinking it. They had this coming. Hopefully one of our judges sees through this and allows this young man a second chance at a good life. No doubt it was self defense. Does he have a go fund me? He can be rehabilitated and put on the streets within a year. Only a racist in a cult would think otherwise.

Sincerely,

After reading the OP again I'm a little confused on the timeline.

So, it's 12:30 in the middle of the day. Family calls this couple, they don't get an immediate callback, so they call the police, who go to the home, while the robbery is still in progress? Is that right?

At 17?

That’ll likely run itself up to the Supreme Court with appeals and other bullshite.

But…never know.

Yeah, there's a lot of weirdness here.

Burglarizing the home of people you don't know, in the middle of the day, in rural Mississippi?

I get it, criminals are dumb, but they're generally smart enough to know that burglarizing a random house in a rural area has a very high risk to reward ratio, and that the odds are pretty good that if the homeowner is at home, he's going to have access to a gun.

Why rob this particular house? Why not scope out the house to see if anyone's home first? Why kill both people in the house instead of running away? Was the burglary interrupted? Why stay in the home after killing the victims?
