Apparently the kid was involved in a previous shooting.

As Simpson County authorities investigate a deadly standoff that left two people dead, a Pinola mother says the same teenager charged in that case was previously arrested in connection with the 2024 shooting of her son.
Alisha Camper said her oldest son, Ja’Marcus Jenkins, was 16 years old when he was shot on January 8, 2024, after getting off the school bus near the family’s home on Burnell Drive.

Camper said Cordarius Hobbs, who is now in custody in the recent Simpson County standoff case, was previously arrested in connection with her son’s shooting. She said those charges were later dropped.

Camper said Hobbs was arrested in connection with the 2024 case and charges were initially filed but later dropped.
“They said they didn’t have enough evidence,” she said.
Camper said even after the case was closed, tensions continued. She said her children remained in school with Hobbs and that problems persisted.
She said her middle son was repeatedly targeted on the school bus, and Ja’Marcus stepped in to defend him.
“They were messing with my middle son on the bus,” she said. “My oldest stood up for him. They didn’t like anyone standing up to them.”
Camper said the impact reached beyond the violence itself.
“That was my oldest senior year that he had to miss out on,” she said.
Camper also said she repeatedly reported concerns to law enforcement and school officials but felt nothing changed.
“I reported each and every incident to the police and the school and no one did anything,” she said.
About a year later, Camper said Hobbs and one of her sons were involved in an altercation at school.
Camper said the recent arrest in the deadly standoff case brought mixed emotions, though she said she was relieved by the outcome of the investigation.
“Relieved to know he’s off the streets,” she said.
She also said she believes there were warning signs long before the most recent violence.
“The family saw no wrongdoings in anything he did. That alone is a weapon for destruction,” she said.
Camper said she believes earlier intervention could have changed the outcome.

Yeah, this is all odd.
The first two rules of burglary are that you only rob houses that you know have something valuable inside, and you don't rob houses while the people who live there are at home. Even the dumbest criminals know that. I guess this one was just that stupid and reckless?
Or did he have some reason to believe that there was something valuable in the home?
It's a 17 year old named Cordarius. You're giving him way too much credit here

Tell me, just for giggles, I don't worship Donna T (unlike you, and you're probably basing your "moderate" and "prog" labels on that, so that's why I make that reference)
Nope. Didn't vote for Trump in 2016 and I pretty much quit voting after 2020. I voted D the majority of the time I did vote.

What does that make me
The fact that you somehow looped Trump into this thread, that makes you a TDS riddled moron, which is one of the many reasons I no longer vote next to people like you.
Now, back to this latest round of "you aren't safe anywhere anymore, but if you notice, then you are in a cult".

Cops really need a lot more training in shot placement.

Not content with their reimagining of Jackson, the local youths have decided to spread their form of civilization to the surrounding areas.

I am flabbergasted a swat shooter didn’t kill him or give him life threatening injuries.
