Maybe, but why the vest? He was battling some demons.
The demons are usually the drugs. Don't do drugs.

Nah, the drugs are there to help deal with the demons.

He looked like a good guy on his LinkedIn. He clearly doesn't look the same in those pictures the news used. I watched one report that showed him approaching an apartment and babbling about "hearing them". He was clearly not in good mental health. Tragic situation.

it's a shame our vets so often don't get the care they need.
That sums this up unfortunately. We've been mistreating our vets since Vietnam.
The mental health crisis amongst our population, especially vets, is a true pandemic.
Prayers for his family and all involved.

I have never seen a gun show, gun shop, or range where everyone is just cool with anyone walking in with an uncased or unholstered firearm.
I have been to many of them. There is a gun show about 3 miles from my house at least once a month and when it is going on the parking lot is fuil of folks openly carrying firearms to and from the building. We have 4 skeet ranges / sporting clay ranges within 50 miles of me and I have walked into all 4 of them with an uncased shotgun. This is in Georgia though where folks ain't scared of guns like they are apparently in Florida....

I can disagree with open carry being illegal while still recognizing that it is the law as it stands in FL.

you're right in some cases. but in many cases the care is available, the vets just dont go get it.
This case played out with Tampa as the backdrop. Tampa is one of the country's model cities for mental healthcare for vets. They opened a state-of-the-art, well-staffed facility offering everything from outpatient services to long term drug and alcohol treatment, etc. just last year.

It really is not complicated...as a citizen we must comply or die.....the state is all powerful and can't make a mistake.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR....................
Hear me out on this, Im going to blow your mind.
You can appear in court and fight it.
But by all means, keep fighting it out on the street with the cops. That seems to end well.

Anyone else having problems seeing the video? Alternate link pls OP

Not a good shoot…in my opinion. They could have easily disarmed him without much (if any) risk. You have multiple weapons trained on him. He’s carrying a long gun…in a safe manner…could easily disarm the guy. If he raises the weapon, then fire away. Again…just my opinion.

I can't bring it up, either.

Correct. Tampa Bay has 2 major VA hospitals, Bay Pines and Haley, plus a bunch of other satellite clinics. If you can't get treatment in Tampa, it's because you don't want it.

What the frick are we supposed to do for vets? I say this as one. To blame the VA or the military for this is just dump shite talk without any critical reasoning. Sad, yes...it's sad when someone snaps and gets themselves killed vet or not. But this is not some failure of the VA or the DOD. This is what happens when people live lives built around online friends, non-stop shallow consumption and have no rock, no anchor no real life friends. This is what happens when you have a society that has learned to tweet their life away while bowling alone. Sad, you bet, we live in a sad world. But this is not some vet thing it's a post-mod digital world thing.
