$1 billion in revenues and the shrimp problem getting blamed likely cost them less than $20 million.
For the horror stories of people eating 10 plates, there are also the hundreds of people who get 1-2 plates

Red Lobster has become a real life Simpsons episode, where Homer is taken to court for bankrupting his local seafood buffet.
Actually, Homer and attorney Lionel Hutz sued the proprietor for false advertising.
“Do these sound like the actions of a man who had all he could eat?”

They ran the unlimited shrimp thing 30 years ago.
A buddy and myself and pigged out on four or five plates each.
We said it was a bad idea way back then.

It's no secret that crazy food deals bring out the absolute scum of society.
Like when TJ Ribs started doing the $1 margaritas and the crowd coming in went to shite overnight

Olive Garden could go out of business and still make a fortune on the salad dressing being sold in grocery stores these days

Life lesson: if you give certain people a way to get something for free, they WILL take advantage and ruin it for everyone else.

That’s what happens when you cater to these types. If you must offer unlimited, at least have a time limit. Although not stellar, back in the day acceptable places such as RL, Applebees, Chilis, etc. really went downhill offering 2 fors and unlimited. They got the clientele the asked for.

My relative was a server at OG when in college bf moving along to better. The stories she told! Hilarious! And ridiculous. Some folks are just not civilized and should not be out in public. But what’s bad is it’s a corporate restaurant so managers kiss the loser customers a$$ and give freebies or anything those folks want so they won’t make a complaint.
The funniest was an old lady who ordered exactly 2 meatballs for her side pasta. Then wanted to send one back for a refund when she couldn’t eat it. My daughter told her no, but manager let it happen. I don’t know how these type of consumers even make it through life.

Very insightful video thanks for posting. I was under the impression that fatties and black people were responsible thanks to this board.

No. A private equity firm bought Red Lobster and started selling off the buildings they owned (to a different company owned by the PE firm) and leasing them back at above market rates. They also began using a different company as their seafood supplier, one also owned by the PE firm. That's why they started doing the endless shrimp, to get rid of backlog for the supplier. And guess what, they also charged Red Lobster out the arse for the seafood.
Locust capitalism doomed Red Lobster.

I remember when it was fun. How I know it's trash was when I told my dad who will drop anything to eat lobster is glad they are finally under. When the restaurant was good I definitely miss that. I remember when they weren't bitches about the biscuits too.

What does a few fat people pigging out have to do with their debacle of bankruptcy?

Boy, if only we could take this life lesson and apply it to other issues in our country.

This is just frickin' sad. People with zero class and self-awareness, and they 100% don't give two fricks that they are the way they are.
They have been raised to think that society owes them something all the time, and they look for every way to take advantage of it.
Businesses need to tell them to frick off and not be afraid of being called "racist" "phobic" etc...
Otherwise, it will not stop, and businesses will contribute to their own demise.
