The guy who owns the ranch has a wife and three kids. I honestly want to disclose it to him just so he knows

Then shouldn't you tell him instead of the OT? But do update this thread after the call.

He got pinched at a traffic stop and was found to have dealer amounts. His car reeked of weed. It doesn’t help that Texas has draconian weed laws

This isn't wrong place at the wrong time. This is being in possession with intent to distribute

Me and a group of high school buddies are visiting a friend who owns a private ranch in Grandview TX. It’s a pretty big plot of land and he has his own firearm range installed in it. A guy in our group has a non-violent drug offense for marijuana possession which has been on his record since 2012. He had been a lawful firearms owner before being convicted. He’s a good guy who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The dude who owns the ranch knows nothing about him being a felon.

Is it worth the risk of being associated with aiding a felon in possessing a firearm? Besides the weed, he’s never caused any trouble at all. I’m debating if I should go or not. Just wanted some advice

in most states if he is non-violent offense, usually eligible to own firearms again after 7 years of being off probation. so long as its state offense.

eta its 5 years in texas LINK

Ditch your felonious buddy and befriend an illegal alien. They can have all the guns they want.

Private property? Just go for it as long as you’re not doing anything stupid to draw attention to yourself

There's more to this story. How the F do you get felony charges for possession? Was he farming the shite?

Any drug possession charge other than simple possession of marijuana was a felony when I lived in LA. Even simple possession of marijuana was also a felony until pretty recently.

And it doesn't take much for possession to not be "simple." Have more than an ounce. Be too near a school (muh drug free zone). Maybe even having paraphernalia- I can't remember that one for sure.

Why would I make this up? I wanted to get advice from this board on how to handle the situation. I don’t want go to fricking jail for being associated with possibly facilitating the illegal possession of a firearm by a felon

Quick google search.

According to Texas law, while felons cannot carry guns or ammunition outside their own properties, they can legally be in possession of a gun again once five years have passed from the completion of their sentence; five years after the end of jail time, probation, or any other requirements of that conviction.
