They had the wrong person. Instead of owning up to their mistake and apologizing, they chose to make fun of her. All on video. What's worse is the police chief thinks it was ok.

I would say you'd be hard pressed to find any cop leadership in this country who wouldn't say that. They will say that until a judge or jury tells them otherwise.

Stuff like this is why qualified immunity is going to get repealed one day.
Why are some professions more equal than others legally?

Cops are high school graduates. Yet people with law degrees argue and judge the law. Too big of a disconnect. We essentially have Walmart workers enforcing and interpreting the laws.

Cops need a 2 year criminal justice degree at minimum in order to serve. They also continuing education, just like medical professions do.

I mean I don’t see a problem with the interaction in general if they were actually looking for a girl wearing a pink jacket and camo pants. But the know it all attitude of cops and refusal to admit mistakes if why so many people hate them.

And then you’ll look around and wonder why there are literally zero cops working. If you’ve ever been around criminals, and I’m guessing you haven’t, you’d understand the level of shitbag city cops have to deal with. They’d be getting sued daily. Every single arrest would be a lawsuit.

That's their jobs. To enforce the law & deal with those who have broken it. Not to harass innocent children.
Cops authority is with criminals, not law abiding citizens.
Why I laugh at those "defund the police" idiots. Taking away funds would make it worse. We need more funds for LE for better training, education, & continuation of both until the day they retire.
I saw a poll once that indicated over 80% of cops polled didn't know the Bill of Rights. How can an oath be made to something not known?
Remember LE is the government & the government is not your friend.

They had reasonable suspicion to stop her bc she did closely fit the description. I have no problem with the stop.
But why the need to handcuff her? That was the dumb part. And the chief doubled down on the stupid.
The kid did look pretty big for an 11 year old, on the video. But I'd like to think i could recognize a young child face to face vs an adult. And obviously you should treat a young child differently (unless its chicago or afganistan).
