When the police chief says, "We handcuff criminals" the reporter should have immediately replied, "Well the constitution dictates that every is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law...."

Those jackboots automatically found her guilty. Theyre not a judge or a jury. They were WRONG. I have no issue with them asking questions. But if thats my child I want their badges for that, ESPECIALLY Sheriff Roscoe.

They had reasonable suspicion to stop her bc she did closely fit the description. I have no problem with the stop.

This.

But why the need to handcuff her? That was the dumb part. And the chief doubled down on the stupid.

This, too. I could see them restraining her if she became violent or unruly, but you mean to tell me a grown man can't handle and 11 year old girl? C'mon, man!

The fact that police leadership is never willing to say that one of their own made mistakes is maddening. Gaslighting infuriates all.

John Bryan really does a good job with these videos, exposing a lot of bad departments. how careless and idiotic are these cops to act and speak like they do with all the camera.s . Glad to see He’s getting a large enough audience to affect some good and show the abuses of power.. he can also play the banjo which is cool..

That line of reasoning means no person ever gets handcuffed when arrested, and I think you can see how silly that would be.

understand the level of shitbag city cops have to deal with

That's their jobs. To enforce the law & deal with those who have broken it. Not to harass innocent children. Cops authority is with criminals, not law abiding citizens.

None of this makes sense or provides any realistic alternative to qualified immunity.

Tell us why only cops should get legal protections for blatant frick-ups on the job. Why are they better than the rest of us? Why aren't you ok with people exercising their 2nd amendment right rather than outsourcing "protection" to some dumbass cop?

Call comes in on radio BOLO black female in pink coat and camo pants.

Cop sees black female in pink coat and camo pants.

Cop detains black female in pink coat and camo pants.

Cop then gets actual pics of the suspect.

The clothes match exactly, upon first glance.

Upon further review, there are slight differences.

Cops determine this is not the suspect, just happened to be wearing identical clothes.

Cops release the detained minor.

No body slams, no ride to jail, no gunfire. It was all sorted out on the scene.

I don't see a problem with any of this. I am on the side of the cops on this one, and I'm sorry this happened to the minor, and I'm also sorry this happened to the victim of the carjacking. An actual crime took place and the cops did their job to catch the bad guy, and unfortunately there happened to be an innocent person matching the bad guy.

Why are some professions more equal than others legally?

Because of what they have to do and deal with. Pretty simple.

You saw nothing wrong with the belittling comments made by the cops?

You support a police state.

You should see what paramedics have to deal with. But then I remember that you have a most sophisticated pallet for the finest of boot polish.

They called her a liar and then "come on girl you're gonna tell me that isn't you?"

They are asking her questions under detention to find out if it was her or not. Also they didn't know she was 11, her clothes matches exactly what the real perp was wearing. They didn't beat the shite out of her, or take her down to the station for interrogation, they did their due diligence right there on the sidewalk and made the determination she wasn't the culprit, and let her go. There are real actual examples all over the internet of cops being assholes, but this is not one of them.

You're the type that will find anything to excuse a cop's poor behavior. Those comments about her integrity were uncalled for. They shouldn't have made any personal comment about her. Had her friends not been there to advocate for her, it could have gone very badly. Those cops didn't look at the details until her friends pointed them out.

I own plenty guns. What does this have to do with the topic? If you’re arguing that we don’t need any cops and that we should all be our own vigilantes…well you can have your opinion I suppose.

quote:

Tell us why only cops should get legal protections for blatant frick-ups on the job.

Other government officials besides cops receive qualified immunity. And it doesn’t protect cops from criminal prosecution, just from most civil suits. If you allow cops to be sued, then they’ll be sued after every single arrest they make. If you doubt that, then you have no experience in the area.
