Maybe all those predicting that remote work and commercial real estate/office buildings are going to be a thing of the past are not quite as accurate as once believed?

Probably a sense of job security that goes along with being inside an office.

I def. want to get back to the office. It's only a 15 minute commute for me and my office building is surrounded by bars and restaurants for easy after work fun.
Screw this working from home. My department probably won't be allowed back to the office until late August.

I know for a fact that my firm that employs 10s of thousands, as well as multiple clients will be moving to smaller real estate footprints. For example, we have 3k employees here in Dallas and somewhere around 2000 seats. They'd likely push that number down to around 1500 seats where we changing office spaces. That's happening in our other offices across the country.
Offices won't be going away, but not having dedicated space for each employee everyday is going to become more and more common.

After working from home for nearly a year I started a new job in the office back in February and am "essential" so we never worked from home through the coronavirus.
I'd love to go back to working from home... there are some nice things to being in the office, but overall I enjoyed working from home more.

said that when the lockdown first started and those same people were saying this would revolutionize the workplace.
Most people are social creatures and want to be around other people. Not only their spouse/kids all day every day. Traditional offices aren't going away, regardless of what the tech nerds think.

I'm just the opposite. I could do maybe a day or two at home per week but overall prefer getting out of the house during the day.

Through the entire covid closure I worked in my office every day. I allowed staffers to make their own choices if they chose to come in or not. I found out real quick how many office staff didn't have enough work to fill a 40 hr a week position. Personnel changes are on the way.

I find there is definitely a communication gap in our department with so many people remote. My kid being at home doesn't bother me but she's 13. I'd guess a 2 yr old would be a lot different.

We probably should have gone to this model, but instead we let the few at-risk employees work from home and the rest of us at the office.
There was really no reason we couldn't have all worked remotely a few days per week.

I was supposed to being going strictly from home before COVID. Then, I was set up for COVID. When they called everyone back in, I had to negotiate, for whatever reason, they wanted me back in. I negotiated 3 days home, 2 days in office.
When working at home, I save a ton of time not commuting, a lot of gas, and a lot of cash as I don't eat out for lunch every day. I much prefer working from home and was much more productive. There are so many distractions in the office. But 2 days in office isn't too bad.

We just have different people coming in on different days but overall we are 30-40% capacity most days. My office never closed either but people that could work remotely were sent home in early March.

I never saw the poll, but I am in no was eager to return to the office. I get more work done at home honestly.

Yeah I really feel bad for those that have had to be home and try to take care of, feed, and teach young kids while trying to do real work.
Our company has been very good about it all. It has been really funny to be on conference calls and some times everyone hears a baby crying or a kid screaming in the back ground when someone's mic isn't muted.
They had stressed how important it was to take care of family and not stay glued to the computer. Several departments even sent out calendar invites for an hour every day to block lunch/teaching time.
