It’s actually due to the rising antisemitisms.

If that’s the case, what’s stopping the CCP from using the 2,984 random Chinese companies selling WiFi extenders on Amazon (or all the other Chinese-made devices with Chinese-made firmware) from doing what TikTok can do with its algorithm?
I think TikTok is different as its algo gets to know its users and creates a virtual reality for them to consume content from. It's used to spread disinformation, propaganda, and control narratives.
You know that pro-Palestine thing that happened last year where people seemingly lost their minds over wanting to save Hamas? Yeah, that was largely driven by TikTok...there was research done to prove as much. And that's not even to mention who knows what kind of data they're collecting from users on the app thousands of hours a year.
Heard of Huawei? Huawei is another Chinese company banned in the US for suspicion of spying Americans.
We're in a soft war with China and have been for years. They're notoriously bad about stealing American intellectual property. They have spies in our government, military, and claws in our infrastructure. Not to say we aren't responding proportionately, but let's not pretend anything and everything coming out of China should be trusted as far as you can throw it.
Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and any other American social media platform under the sun are banned in China. The Chinese refuse to allow potential propaganda or information from us make it to the eyes of Chinese citizens. They know the risks those applications raise and have long ago taken action to prevent us from infiltrating the Chinese media landscape.

Why is more government overreach good?
Why is Tik Tok equivalent to a terrorist? You have to be one big loser if you're a male on Tik Tok. Revaluate your life.

I'm guessing you are pro-Patriot Act.
Why? Because im in favor of a foreign owned and manipulated app being banned?
I'm guessing youre for illegal immigration across our borders.

Why? The federal governments issue with this that it’s owned by China and they can’t get access. They already have backdoor access to all those others.

I agree. It's simple, and if people can't get over not being hypnotized by their video feed, well that just tells you what you already know about the softness of society today.

Democrats can not control TikTok so they banned it. You can say Trump is a good president on TikTok and nothing will happen. If you try that on other social media platforms you will be censored. Democrats hate freedom of speech. The left wing nazi’s want full control.
This was a bipartisan effort supported by two opposing presidents and upheld by trump's supreme court.
Blaming the opposing political party for everything you disagree with makes you sound dumb.

Dumb take. China cares more about creating discord in the US along with spying on the US, hacking US companies and govts, and building up its military against the US. They have seen the US as the enemy since the late 1940s. Their version of tiktok allowed inside China is tame as they know tiktok is awful for people.
Also China is a communist country. You can’t get much more left than this.

The problem is that terrorist organizations use tiktok to post ways to circumvent border security and our national security.
They'll just go to another platform. That's not solving the problem.

Ah, the noble cause. You know that isn't the real concern of our government, correct? Our government doesn't like tiktoc because they can't control it and use it for their own spying initiatives.

Trump has ready said he will fight to save TikTok. What a joke.
The law “Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” explicitly designates tiktok and bytedance as “foreign adversary controlled applications under the law”. The law gives the President the authority to act on designating other foreign adversary controlled applications as national security threats for same ban until divested. Byte dance is done. Trump may attempt remove ban and forcing a sale, but I doubt it holds up. The way to save tiktok is to find it a new owner that isn’t a foreign adversary of the US.
It seems like the most any President can do in regard to bytedance/Tiktok is extend divestiture deadline (besides investigate violations and enforce it), but I don’t know how that works when deadline has already been met the day before becoming President. President thru an agency also determines when application is divested to point of officially no longer been controlled by foreign adversary so restrictions are no longer are applied to it.

You have no idea how much support Trump got on TikTok during the election. It's sad that you continue to believe the left wing media lies.

TikTok’s latest statement says they will go dark (restrict access to US users) if the Biden administration doesn’t provide a more definitive statement on its status.
“The statements issued today by both the Biden White House and the Department of Justice have failed to provide the necessary clarity and assurance to the service providers that are integral to maintaining TikTok's availability to over 170 million Americans.
Unless the Biden Administration immediately provides a definitive statement to satisfy the most critical service providers assuring non-enforcement, unfortunately TikTok will be forced to go dark on January 19.”

Who cares? It’s over he won, and I am glad he did.
If big tech were conservative tiktok would have pushed hard left. It just wants to spy and create social divide in the US. And ban anything anti-china.
Trump got support on Tweeter/X and even got support on Facebook. China is our enemy. China has been our biggest threat over Russia for awhile. Whatever it owns in the short term or long term is meant to undermine the US.
You are going out on a limb for China’s propaganda. Ignoring tiktok’s very large communist china problem is not the answer.

TikTok was a hotbed of right wing influence in the run up to the election, and was at least partially responsible for the uptick in support for Trump among male Gen-Zers. Meanwhile good ole wholesome Facebook was fact-checking anything to the right of Stalin into oblivion.
