I can’t stand TikTok but I’m legit torn on this.

You can’t feel great about FedGov banning a social media platform. I understand the reasons but it feels icky.

That’s the point. Ban TikTok, get worse.

Democrats can not control TikTok so they banned it. You can say Trump is a good president on TikTok and nothing will happen. If you try that on other social media platforms you will be censored. Democrats hate freedom of speech. The left wing nazi’s want full control

. I knew that when Zuck became atached to Trump that this was going to happen. TikTok is a competitor to Meta.

Trump is still President elect. This law was passed before election and signed into law by Biden. The law will take effect on Jan 19th the day before Trump is inaugurated.

Trump was criticized for wanting something this to happen during his first term (on any restrictions on communist china controlled companies), but Biden did this without any shame on his past criticizing of Trump for wanting this. Trump has talked about not supporting this now which I disagree with, and I hope he looks more towards reforming Sect 230 and looking into Big Tech monopolies that the fed approved by approving the various mergers and buying of competitors in the name of growing the internet over the years when companies struggled to find out how to profit using the internet. These govt approvals and protections with 230 were then taken advantage of by the big tech left especially when dems controlled presidency and both houses of congress.

Isn’t that getting banned also for the same reason that TikTok is?

It’s icky banning a company from operating in the US even when that company is controlled by a communist govt that keeps pushing an arms race for a war against us and has a military branch hacking our companies and govt departments? The US has been enemy number 1 of communist china since it took over China. They pushed the Korean War and had the most soldiers out of any country involved while they were still the USSR’s bitch. They can do a lot more now which we have helped fund.

I think more companies controlled by China should be stopped from doing business in the US or be severely regulated and audited including start ups listing on stock exchanges.

Haven’t formulated any “belief” on this. Just going off of what I’ve read. I’m guessing this is where you tell me why this is wrong.

If the country itself is the problem (and they might be), then shouldn’t there be an embargo that prevents all commerce?

Yeah, the federal government selectively banning individual entities based on the country they operate in sounds a little problematic to me.

No, it does not. The left lost one social media platform in Twitter. And TikTok was growing much faster than Facebook. The left can’t lose another social media platform. The left controls almost all of the news and they want the same control over social media.
