The United States government spent billions bringing high-speed internet to poor rural areas, and now those people won't have shite to look at on the internet all day. Our government can't get anything right.

You all realize tik tok isn’t going anywhere right?

Everyone who already has it can continue to use it and upload videos and scroll for hours.

The main issue is there can not be any new software updates for it and no new customers can download it (even though there are ways around that as well)

I don't believe this is factual. Fairly sure TikTok has come out and said that they will only link to a webpage detailing the ruling when US based users open the app.

Oh I think you’re right. Looks like US would allow it to still be used but TikTok itself said they plan to not allow it,

Bold move

Thank you!, people just be saying shite. I knew that when Zuck became atached to Trump that this was going to happen. TikTok is a competitor to Meta.

Hell the CEO of TikTok used to work for Facebook as an intern.

Before TikTok was itself, Zuck tried to by Musical.ly, but ByteDance, TikTok's parent company was able to acquire it. That then became TikTok

I dont really care about the stupid shite people do in their videos, thats not the problem. The problem is that terrorist organizations use tiktok to post ways to circumvent border security and our national security.

quote:

In early 2023, a thwarted plot on an LGBTQ+ pride parade in Austria highlighted how two teenagers and a 20-year-old Austrian of Chechen and Bosnian origin were inspired and radicalized through TikTok. While TikTok has a policy in place to remove extremist content, studies show the extent of violent propaganda available on the video-based platform. Young Austrians were exposed to videos created by Islamist influencers on TikTok glorifying jihad, which, through engagement, led them to be exposed to more similar content. Subsequently, the youngest, only 14-years-old, organized a Telegram channel with jihadists from around Europe to exchange information on the plotting of attacks and fundraising for weapons. Now, with the accessibility of AI, recruiting efforts on these platforms can be supercharged by creating more content artificially, testing what content performs well online, and, consequently, efficiently reiterating messaging.

Thats the jist. People can act stupid on other platforms.

Trump said TikTok was good for his campaign. Thought he said he wasn't going to try and ban it.

Why can’t some American company just build a clone. We had Vine once, it can be done

Whether one agrees with the ban or not as policy this was the correct decision based on it coming from and being controlled by another country especially one run by communists who keep preparing for a war against us.

Thought Biden says he will not enforce it and pass the it to Trump, so nothing "should" happen to the App unless TikTok takes it down themselves.
