ByteDance is free to operate TikTok within the United States for as long as they want to, they just need to move to the US and eliminate the current deal to share their data with the Chinese government. It's not an "individual entity" if it's literally a part of the Chinese government.
ByteDance chose China over the US. That's on them. The Chinese government would rather lose the US TikTok market than share whatever the frick is running in that algorithm with the US. What does that tell you about the algo? To the Chinese government, the algo is worth more than the billions of dollars ByteDance makes off US users. That's pretty scary and one hell of a reason to ban them here.

TikTok comes out. You can watch hours of videos on how great the country was ran when Trump was president. You can watch videos on how terrible Joe Biden has been. You can watch videos on the evil of forcing LGBTQ beliefs into elementary schools. You can watch videos on how crooked the Joe Biden and Clinton families are.

TikTok is the most straight to the people app we have for information. They can’t have that. Why isn’t every Chinese company a security threat?

I understand that. It’s valid and I don’t disagree with that reasoning at all.
But this is really saying that the problem isn’t ByteDance directly…it’s what the CCP is able to use ByteDance (via TikTok) to do right?
If that’s the case, what’s stopping the CCP from using the 2,984 random Chinese companies selling WiFi extenders on Amazon (or all the other Chinese-made devices with Chinese-made firmware) from doing what TikTok can do with its algorithm?

I have no opinion on TikTok being banned because I have never and will never put the app on any of my devices. With that being said, getting a unanimous ruling from any branch of today's polarized government, leads me to believe the ban must be somewhat pragmatic and needed.

Never had it, so doesn't hurt me. They post all the same things on Insta and FB anyway, so it really doesn't matter lol. It'll be funny to watch my wife and daughter lost without it.

It was certainly made to help cheating be easier but It was primarily a way for people to exchange nudes without allowing someone to save it without the sender knowing. That very much includes minors. The foundation of SC is vile but it's here to stay for sure until there's a need for some new aspect of communication.
