I would be surprised if Vitamin D turned out to be the answer for COVID all along.

It doesn’t have to be the answer to Covid. It can end up being completely worthless. But there is no harm in it unless you’re concerned about it being a stain on someone’s reputation.

This is a matter of risk management in the fog of war.

"Science can amuse and fascinate us all, but it is engineering that changes the world." - Isaac Asimov

Sometimes you have to rip the study from the hands of the scientist and turn it into a pragmatic, low risk, and fast solution that has potentially very high rewards

We pretty much knew this in March based on 100 years of medical science but politicians decided it was better for everyone to lock down and stay inside instead of get out in the sun and be healthy.

This REALLY had my primary care doc mad. He recommended Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Zinc, and Quercetin. He said to take this daily and that if I ever got COVID-19, this would also be the treatment regiment with the addition of Pepcid.

Could also explain why people with darker skin are worse off. They dont make vitamin D as easily.

Wouldn’t the darker skin coincide with MORE sunlight?

I used to get really nasty yearly colds. The kind that would knock me on my arse for a week. I started supplementing vitamin D3 - 5,000iu a day - and I have yet to get sick since. I also supplement zinc and magnesium through a ZMA supplement.

Purely anecdotal, but I'm a believer.

The pigment makes it harder to absorb the light needed to make vitamin D

The percentage of vitamin d deficiency in the general population is pretty high at baseline. This is interesting nonetheless though

That is very true. It gets worse in the Winter months due to obvious reasons. Coincidentally that is when flu season peaks.

I don't think it is a cure all for Covid or other viruses, but I would prefer not to be deficient when exposed. Just my crazy thinking I guess.

I feel like this has been known from the earliest days of this but has never gotten enough attention. Many of these places up north where days are so short this time of year are getting blown up.

I work in healthcare and was told this in like March/April. The doctors I work with all started a regimen of Vitamin D, Zinc, and Magnesium so they can fight it off quicker if they get it.

Feel like this has gone way underreported for some reason.

Almost three years ago, my son was diagnosed with a very rare autoimmune disease. In addition to his immunotherapy/chemo treatments that he gets every three weeks, his doctor has him on 50,000 IU of Vitamin D per week. So far he hasn’t had a relapse of his disease and he’s stayed Covid free. I think the Vitamin D definitely is beneficial for the immune system.

Every person should be on vitamin supplements. They are cheap and readily available. Can you imagine how much better we would be better off as a society if we just added fresh veggies and supplements?

Its a big deal.

After they removed my entire colon I was feeling like shite and staying sick. Doc in Houston checked my vitamin D. It was basically zero. Started supplements as I don't absorb it anymore.

fricking night and day. its really crazy.

As you age, you don't make enough V D thru sunshine. Take supplements. I've been taking between 1,000 and 2,000 units a day for 8 years and haven't been sick since.

42% of Americans are vitamin D deficient. But a much higher percentage of people over 65 are.

Consider that unhealthy people over 65 are not getting sunlight. These people are going to be deficient in vitamin D and also susceptible to CV-19 due to poor health.

I think vitamin D deficiency is not the main driver.

Consider including Quercetin with your Zinc supplement.
