Is that what they’re upset about?

I'm in Metairie and would like to get to Uptown New Orleans to family. Is there anything to keep me from getting into New Orleans this afternoon and then back to Metairie later today? Any checkpoints or need to navigate side streets?

saw a report that the sheriff called from satellite phone. everyone ok, half the island still under water....pretty much every structure destroyed or heavily damaged and island is essentially cut in half.
Man homes washed out into gulf.
The aerial footage that will be coming out of that entire area will make you nauseous from what I understand. It's going to look like part of LC after Laura, and in some cases much worse (if that's even possible).

Riding that storm out in GI and living to tell about it has to be quite the experience

I’m just getting cell services back in Tangipahoa parish where I evacuated too. Man frick this hurricane. They need to retire Ida. I never want to here her name again.
If anyone can tell me if there’s gas near Prairieville it would be much appreciated.

Any aftermath photos from Grand Isle or Port Fourchon yet? Haven’t been able to follow thread closely today.

You might start seeing some tonight and into tomorrow. They are literally just starting damage assessments right now. Good friend that works the EOC in Lafourche said it's bad.

How did you get the stubborn elderly to evac?
You bring in all their grandchildren and to tell them “if you don’t get in the fricking car I’m never talking to you again.”
My mom was folding her clothes in about 3 minutes…

Not yet that I've seen. Only the one picture of Golden Meadow

I hope something positive comes from all of this… like looters getting shot.

Thanks! Appreciate the info. Just got word that our place was mostly ok other than some minor damage. Big time prayers for those who had it worse than us.

Latoya didn’t rebuild those levees. She didn’t build that.

It’s very chaotic at first with debris removal and you think it will take forever but in about 10 days my in-laws got power back (south Nelson rd area). There were bucket trucks everywhere
The electrical lines were decimated on Lake St, trees taking out essentially every pole and line between 210 and Sale st… I live off of Sale and couldn’t believe how quickly they got them back up and running. Had power back in a week and a half I believe, can’t quite remember; that whole month was a blur
