So re: Grand Isle — how long before people can get down there to look for those that stayed???

I guess when they A) deem it safe enough and B) have the manpower and resources to get down there. I'd have to think just getting to them right now is an incredible challenge.

The residents that refuse to leave is one thing, but the first responders should have never been left down there. It should've been made clear to the residents that, at some point, they were leaving and that you would be on your own.

Soon, I’m sure. Once you get south of cutoff there really isn’t much in the way of trees to block the roads. As long as the water is down, which I believe it is, they can make it.

This assumes the bridges werent washed away

The new bridges were built to withstand this but a good chunk of LA 1 between Fourchon and GI might have washed away

The problem with Grand Isle is jurisdiction. Jefferson Parish has a much tougher time getting to them than LaFourche or Terrebonne would, but they all have their own problems too.

Why are you fear mongering. The dude can surely go on and get his car and leave.

Perhaps we can get some aerial pictures/footage of the Grand Isle area, too.

I will never understand why they stayed. Cameron first responders didn't stay for Laura and that's clearly the better move.

Always blew my mind that Metairie and GI are in the same Parish.

I probably wouldn't do that in the current weather. There are still heavy spiral bands swinging through the Mississippi and Alabama coasts. Flash flooding and spinup tornadoes will remain an issue in those areas for a while longer.

PLEASE REMAIN OFF OF THE LEVEE AT THIS TIME.

The top of the levee is the ONLY available transportation route for our emergency crews to travel. We ask residents to please remain off of the levee in order to allow for our crews to continue clearing debris, and repairing damages.

My neighbor called me from Kenner, but I couldn’t understand him. I’m evacuated. I may have a tree on my house—what should I do? I’ve never gone through one of these deals before.

He can, but that doesn't mean he should.

Driving West from AL will be difficult itself, and then EVERY local PD in SELA is telling people not to be on the roads.

As well as road cover end in mid and silt, shrimp boats, camps and debris.

Yeah, I mean...I want those folks out of the immediate danger so they can get back in as quickly as possible to help, as they know the people/area.

Having people not as familiar rescuing those that should be doing the rescues does nobody any good.
