Take it up with the NHC and TWC, as they are both constantly blasting NNW.

9:00 PM CDT Sun Aug 29
Location: 30.1°N 90.6°W
Moving: NNW at 9 mph
Min pressure: 950 mb
Max sustained: 110 mph

Greenleaves

I live off lonesome road right behind Greenleaves. Power has been out for about 4 hours. Serious wind the last 2 1/2 hours. Trees have fallen in the area.

I'm having Katrina flashbacks now. Tulane and Memorial running out of fuel for their generators on Tuesday/Wednesday.

I was helpless to do anything for them. It was awful.

Thankfully the roads to Houston should be open and any gas and/or supplies should be able to be delivered (for the most part & hopefully).

Maybe they meant to put “NNW” then. I just went with what I saw, which was NW.
I gotcha, just letting you know where Rummel got the NNW from

Thanks for the tracking info. Power out now and having a hard time following where this bitch is at. About an hour ago it was heading straight towards my parents.

Friend is in national guard. Says they just mobilized 4000 additional guardsmen from surrounding areas to come assist in Nola metro area starting tomorrow

By exception, all the Louisiana National Guard is on duty or will be tomorrow.

Texas and Mississippi will likely be sending people tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest.

I’m not trying to argue about it man. I was just point out where I got NW from, which was NHC’s 9pm advisory update statement. If that’s wrong, I got it from NHC’s update statement text. It may just be a typo on their part. We’ll have a new advisory in 30 minutes, so that’ll clear it up.

What does this mean in practical terms?

It is going to be quite rough wind wise. The one storm report from the airport some distance away had sustained 62 mph and gusts to 90 and that was at 8:30 pm.

Im in Madisonville, but north of 12. We lost power here about an hour ago.

Nothing crazy, but its here. 25-40 sustained would be my guess. Probably had a few gusts over 60.

We’re very concerned. Never had issues with any storm in the past, Katrina, issac, 2016 flood. But this one is getting worrisome as it has yet to even pass

The outlook for the north shore sounds pretty grim, a friend on three rivers road said the water is rising at an alarming rate.
