Expect for the cat 3 that hit last year

Yep, New Orleans seemed to fair pretty well with Zeta last year. Of course, I think part of what decides how bad New Orleans gets impacted (at least by the flooding) is the angle of approach the storm takes. Zeta didn't have a Katrina type angle of approach where it pushed so much water in on New Orleans, Zeta was coming in from more of the south/Southwest. We will have to see what type of approach this one takes.

Would absolutely suck hard but I've been trying to get my wife to get on board with moving. Maybe silver linings if the house gets whacked?

Should ping ping off cuba mountains and slam into the Yucatan mountains to put the final death blow on this thing.

This discussion reminds of a nice factoid to drag back out for the season. And, primarily for those unfamiliar with the area - the absolute first terrain feature in South Louisiana than can halt any sort of storm surge is the I-10 berm.

Zeta was rolling and didn’t dump a ton of rain. This may bring similar to stronger winds but I am seeing potential for 15+“ of rain in Nola metro with some models

If I remember Zeta was in and out in about 2 hours that storm was rolling.

15 inches of rain would be pretty goddamn bad. Pumps can’t keep up with that.

Yup. Zeta was the weirdest storm.

All season everyone was worried about a ton of a storms and then get a direct hit cat 3 and no one cared.

Luckily it came through at like 30 knots. It could have caused a lot more damage if not moving so fast.

Who was the idiot that said on the day Katrina hit Pass Christian that Louisiana was spared by God because of having a democratic governor, meanwhile Mississippi was hit because of having a Republican governor?

I don't think Mississippi has been hit since....

Got lucky that zeta was moving fast. Once the backside of the eye hit Slidell, the water in my backyard went from normal level to a few feet from my house in about 20 minutes. Ive never seen water rise that fast. If zeta would have been a slow mover, I would have flooded.
