Yup. Zeta was the weirdest storm. All season everyone was worried about a ton of a storms and then get a direct hit cat 3 and no one cared.
Zeta fricked up waveland and bsl decently. Also everyone from Nola to bsl was without power for around a week or longer.

Zeta wrecked MS. tons of roof damage lots of it still there and countless trees down. Was out of power for 4-5 days in NW jackson county and others were longer than that. Luckily it was cool right after it so was pretty comfortable all things considered at least it wasnt 110 heat index every day like it is right now.

So now it is hitting Sunday instead of Monday and SELA is still the target? Just don't want to read a lot so thanks for any updates

At the moment it looks like somewhere on the central or southeast LA coast (but things seem to be trending toward a SELA landfall), landfall probably happens Sunday evening/Sunday night.

I don’t know if it was the northeast quadrant but the eye of zeta passed directly over Nola. Which was a cat 3 at landfall I believe.

computer models are singling in on a central/SE coast hit
but that is subject to change once the storm actually forms
there will likely be NHC cones at some point today

Texas probably means weaker, so it’s the better scenario even though those in Texas wouldn’t agree lol

Eerily similar to Camille. Forming in the same place, same time of year and same general weather pattern.

Yeah, Hurricane Zeta.

My little neighborhood at the river never lost power.

If this storm is anything like Camille it would be awful……. Just imagine a 22 foot wall of water crashing ashore with 180 MPH winds… devestation would not be the correct word.

BSL/Waveland literally caught the eye wall for like 2 straight hours bc of the angle it came in.

It's already mentioned in the thread title, but in case anyone missed it, from NHC:
quote:
NHC will initiate advisories on Tropical Depression Nine, located over the west-central Caribbean Sea, at 1100 AM EDT (1500 UTC).
