I’m sorry but this is simply retarded. NEVER go into your attic during a flood. EVER. Dozens of people were killed during Katrina because of this. Get out, find a random boat to hop in. Or find some floating debris and hang on. Climb on your rooftop if possible. If floodwater has gotten so high it forces you into the attic then it’s only a matter of minutes before the attic is flooded and you drown. Odds of survival are much better outside. I never understood why people would voluntarily trap themselves in their attic.

Based on the radar presentation and hints of a secondary wind maximum appearing in the latest reconnaissance flight legs, it appears that an eyewall replacement cycle is beginning. Ida has likely peaked in intensity.
With that tweet you've opened up a debate that will probably go for a while.

Waffle House? Usually the last to close.

I don’t see it.. but i’m not a professional. The eye does appear to be shrinking, but this could be good or bad depending on how long it takes to complete (if it is indeed happening).

A 15-20 mile jog makes a world of difference with this one. It also wasn't intensifying on schedule.
They woke everyone up in the middle of the night last year for a storm that was 3-4 days out. That made less sense than telling people Ida didn't fizzle after all.
I get that they send these texts at weird times, but the current situation with Ida has been forecast for the past 3 days. A Cat 4 in this area was what they’ve been telling everyone, and it happened. It would be one thing if the situation changed drastically overnight, but they’ve been saying this would happen and it did.

That's what the axe is for.
It's easier to get on the roof through the attic than clinging to a bathtub floating by

How many didn't leave yesterday because of the traffic?
Should have opened up the contraflow through I 10 in MS

This is 2021, even The Waffle House Index isn't sacred anymore. Most are closed until after the storm.

It’s unreal how the storms recently have just blown the frick up before landfall.
Models are based on historical data. The last five years have been the hottest years on record. Models are consistently underestimating how much energy is available, especially over the coastal shelf. Did the same thing with Michael and Laura.

Anyone know the last time a storm this powerful made landfall in Louisiana?
Laura last year was close, but this one has a lower pressure and will be stronger.
