I think it’s too late. You just need to ride it out. My gf’s family left Nola at 9:30 am yesterday, and they still aren’t to Houston

Did they walk??

Leave

Not only are you putting yourself and family at risk. You’re putting first responders at risk

Leaving Baton Rouge is a case by case basis based on trees. If there’s no tree threat you’re safe in a home structure in Baton Rouge. There’s no need to create a last minute panic mass evac of Baton Rouge.

Took us 8 hours, we left at 7am. Was bumper to bumper from the start of the twin spans all the way to Pascagoula. Didn’t free up at all until Mobile. I imagine it only was gonna get worse.

If you haven’t left NOLA, let alone the West Bank then Darwin will take care of you.

Thank you. Was wondering if I was missing something. Saying CAT 1 in BR. Maybe a 2. Not saying that’s cake but seems drastic to say get out or die in BR at least.

Awful and dangerous advice.

You must mean Houston, Europe, right?

Mandeville here. I can either drive I-49 towards Meridian or straight up 55. Or my brother has a house in Hammond with no trees and no flood risk. What's my play here?

Well he gave no details and is obviously on the fence if he’s asking at this hour

Hopefully he doesn’t have family with him if he’s on the fence at this late hour

It is not too late to leave..
Go North and Go West.
Download Waze.

Decide now one way or another.

If you leave, the time to leave is NOW.
This is better for you and this is better for everyone that leaves after you.

Evacuating Baton Rouge would be a post-storm comfort and amenities decision because it might suck for a few days.
