Never seen a storm hold together that well after coming ashore.

This thing hits as a Cat 3 in LC, I don’t know how the city will recover to be honest. I’m pretty confident my house would be fine as I removed every single tree around me after Laura, but I just think the community may be irreparably broken by another strong storm. This has me pretty spooked. That’s extremely uncharacteristic of me as I’m usually a perpetual optimist about things.

100% how I feel. But I'm not sure how bad a 3 would be, I don't think a low end 3 would do much damage honestly. Most roofs are new, most trees are already gone lol.

So are we now looking at midweek instead of Labor Day?

I think it’s more that the other storms didn’t slow down investment in the area. 3 major storms with significant hits to the area would probably get the people injecting money to think twice about coming here. That’s what I’m nervous about more so than the actual damage.

Today is gonna be a long day.

If the GFS verifies and it runs over the gulf loop with favorable atmospheric conditions

Right there with you.

Depending on what happens here, I’m looking at:

1) leaving my home area after living here my entire life
2) my parents losing all four of their young grandkids to relocation and one of those parents already taking that prospect extremely hard.
3) a career change at 42
4) having to work up until the last second not being able to help prepare my home.

My blood pressure is already spiking and we don’t even know what’s happening.

If you end up taking a job in Deer Park or Pasadena (seems like your line of work), you would be about 2 hours away from parents fwiw.

Kind of would be pointless to move to Houston still being on the Gulf Coast

If it makes you feel better, I have a reasonable amount of confidence in our ability to handle a Cat 3. We’ll be without power for a few days but I don’t think it will be anything catastrophic. When I say we I mean south LA as a whole.

Maybe I’m a dreamer

When are they saying the storm will form up in order of getting a better prediction of where she’s going?

True but those pants are built here for a reason.

Let's pray it doesn't come to that though
