I don't think it is either. Been following hurricanes since Andrew. And usually not full of gloom. This is very scary..

Yeah, I’m in chat with some met friends and they agree 5 is definitely on the table now, if not likely.

As sad as this storm is going to be from a Met standpoint it is impressive as frick. Like records might be set here. Just fascinating to watch.

Take the speed of storm and multiply by the distance off the coast.

In St.James Parish. Don't think many people evacuated out of here. Didn't seem like it. Really wishing we did now.

Thats a classic wobble. I bet if it went a few more frames it would have looked like it was going north. Wobbles are important though. Toward the end can mean the world.

1) EWRC - Eyewall Replacement Cylce
She is getting so strong that a new bigger eye might try to form.. which will squeeze out the smaller eye. this would lower the max winds a little, but spread them out farther into the storm. Both are bad, but 145+ winds are catastrophic for everything in its path.

There's a chance for it. It may be the only hope of slowing it down at this point.

Yeah. I’ve transitioned from abject terror to sick fascination.

There has just never been much in the way of a failure mode. There's nothing to slow it down.

I've had questions about that upper low to the west. Not that it would stop it from going major (I'm not sure I could have been more clear over the past two days about my expectation) but enough to just pinch the west side outflow and take that off the board.

Looking at the water vapor...it didn't do much of that at all.

With two kids under 3, would you leave town or stay with nearby family who has new house and whole house generator in Metairie

I believe east/west is not a option now. I would only go north at this point if it was me.

I work in that area and live in BR. My parents are in denham but I'm in your boat now too...starting to really second guess this. My wife and daughter left this morning. I'm starting to think about leaving just can't leave my parents behind and Dad wasn't having any of it.

The Cajun navy will have their hands full. You can’t depend on anyone, but them, if we are being honest. I bought ten cases of water to send down there, because I know it’s coming, and I’ll buy more. It’s Walmart purified, but it’s better than nothing lol

Looked to me like the upper level low was gone.
Ida’s outflow became boss.
