Lots of places don’t get nailed with life-altering natural disasters on a yearly basis
I mean, Louisiana doesn't either. There's always a chance, and we had gone quite a while without a life altering disaster

And why didn’t I learn my lesson already?
I’m genuinely asking myself if I’m in an abusive relationship with a city.
Where else can we go no other city will ever want us? I’m too old to leave. Maybe New Orleans really will change this time! If only the city would just stop drinking . . . . Why did I let the city have access to my bank account to pay the water bill?!

We should probably all go to bed.

YES! Me too! My sister lives in Geismar and her home is surrounded by trees. Her husband takes everything so lightly all the time and I’m just concerned they’re not going to try to stay in a pet of the house that would be safe from falling trees. I myself have some trees near my house. My parents live in Donaldsonville em and my 93 year old grandfather lives with them. Not being able to communicate with any of them for a while after is going to be nerve wrecking. To my brother who is probably reading this, I know you’ll be fine

Just finished the 12 hour trek from BR to 30A. Should've just taken a flight out.
I left Prairieville at 8am and made it to Pensacola at 3pm. Took Hwy 90 from Bay St. Louis to Spanish Fort (fricking red lights drove me crazy). My cousin left Houma at 6am and it took her 8 hours to get through the Mobile tunnel on I-10.

What was the last major hurricane to hit SELA? Gustav in 08? I don't recall any in the 2010s that made much of an impact where I am

Reposting from before.. this is not a complete list, but this is a good plaice to start.
1) Charge your phones & tablets & batteries
2) Fill the Bath Tub with Water
(use it to flush toilet when water is turned off)
3) Find an axe.
(if you flood, you might need it to break the roof open to escape)
4) Make a Safe Room
(no windows if possible)
(put mattresses in front of windows)
5) Do not run a generator in your house or garage
(the Carbon Monoxide can kill you)
6) Fill up plastic cups with water and put them into the freezer.. or use jugs or just something..
(can use to keep food cold longer once the power goes out)
7) Put candles and flashlights and all stuff you might need in the safe room
8) Stay away from large trees outside
(they might fall on the house)
9) Remove all stuff from outside and move it into your house or garage. Chairs, Tables, anything can become a projectile. If you have a trampoline, take it down.
10) Drain your pool to 1/3 full
(don’t empty it or it might pop out of the ground)

For the first time in my life, the thrill of the adrenaline rush of an approaching hurricane is beginning to transition to a pit in my stomach feeling. I just have a gut feeling this is going to be terrifying for those of us in the direct path. Prayers for all of you for safety and as little damage as possible.
Can't add to this but, if there's the oddball reading who escaped North and needs a place, I'm in the Longview area.
TD, you're going to be OK.

I’m sorry, but I’m not convinced this is hitting Grand Isle. Unless it takes a hard NW turn soon, that looks like western Terrebonne to me.

No, he's just an a-hole. He's like this wherever he goes on this site.
