Josh Morgerman (@iCyclone) is in NOLA now. He drove over from his "Hurricane House" in Bay Saint Louis. He is another that will probably have some livestreams going.

Katrina was not a wind event
It was a damn strong wind event in Washington and St.Tammany parishes and Mississippi.

Hell, I'll PM you my cell if you get desperate and need to talk.
I appreciate it. I’ll be ok. I know I’m not the only one staying. I’m not the only one having these thoughts. And there are people in worse positions than me.
I just hope to god every single thing I’ve worked for and built and love and cherish doesn’t disappear tomorrow. My house, my career, my neighborhood, my city, my family’s houses and livelihoods, etc. I wish that was hyperbole but it literally happened 16 years ago. So it’s not hyperbole.
this thing looks bad and it has time to continue to strengthen. I don’t think I have the strength to rebuild again and that thought depresses the hell out of me.
This thread is going to be good group therapy. TD is a magical place. We’ll get through this. It’ll be painful, but we’ll get through it.

Related question—how do they detect mesos in the eyewall?

Just came down 55 trying to get back to Hammond. To family from my job. Probably getting a few hours sleep and going right back up.
Very little traffic going up and looked liked like plenty of gas.

think Nguyener said he'd be posting a check in thread tomorrow AM. Basically a check in thread for pre-Storm and a check out okay in the same thread for Monday PM.
I’ll post it tomorrow and request a sticky. Rummy said he might post it as well. I’ll defer to him. He can actually control it. I can just RA idiot posts and hope lol

You basically look for little hooks or notches on the very interior of the eyewall. Let me find a pic or two to illustrate it.

So true I was located just west of St. Tammany during that storm riding it out and the differences between where I was compared to St. Tammany was night and day. Looked like a third-world country. All the poles were just snapped in half in just lines down the highway. I'll never forget that. That storm had some bad tornadoes rolling through.

Katrina and Rita were felt big time in northwest Mississippi.
Anyone know if carville army base is safe? My kids there. Thanks.
