Recall that the average NHC landfall track error at 24-36 hours is 50 miles.

I don’t expect 50 miles here though. But 25-30 miles east or west can be a big deal here.

Like…go to Natchez,, cross the river, drive up through Winnsboro to Shreveport? A little longer but not crawling, and probably more gas stations

That’s a very easy drive. Just don’t speed through Ferriday.

You can check back here hourly. We have several independent meteorologists who do their own research.

Fun fact. Because NOLA did not issue a mandatory evacuation your renters/home insurance will not have to initially pay housing expenses for those evacuating (loss of use).

I was talking about this last night. It's one reason why Calcasieu/LC did a voluntary evac. It was a decision based on resource allocation and not danger. Trying to explain this to people on FB was impossible.

Not declaring mandatory evac may screw some people over.

I always get some vibe like behind the scenes it went like this...

High Ranking State Farm Exec: "Ms Cantrell, if you hold off the mandatory evacuation we can hepl you find a solution to that tax problem you have.."

Ms Cantrell: "Been waiting for you guys to show up."

I can’t even comprehend sitting in traffic and having a normal 3-5 hour drive take 10-12 hours

Latest GFS more east but only 966mb at landfall which is a strong cat 2

Doesn’t really show any RI just steady strengthening. I find that hard to believe but there’s hope it doesn’t get its shite together in time to ramp up

Would we avoid the parking lot shite of the major highways if we took the backroad to Shreveport? Like…go to Natchez,, cross the river, drive up through Winnsboro

That drive is nicknamed "the gateway to Tim McGraw Country"

Yes, plenty of gas in Franklin Parish right now. Northbound traffic heavier than normal but not bad at all.
