Looks like the track is slowed down too, or just different times posted on the track?

I’d love for nobody to get hit but if it’s BR or NO I want it to hit NO, as any sane person who lives in BR would regardless of what happened last year or 20 years ago

I mean I get it from a human perspective, but its also pretty dumb.

BR can handle a storm like this and come out the other end without the entire city being completely destroyed for years. NO likely cannot.

Bro this isn't your first hurricane thread. First post on first page will always have the updated NOAA cone.

I know you weren't talking to me but thanks.. I didn't know this.

Interdasting that new cone has it weakening all the way to TS over BR

A 70 mph TS which if verified would be a record for the highest recorded sustained wins in BR. That isn’t good news.

And remember, they acknowledge Ida could reach cat 4 intensity which would put sustained winds in BR at 75 or higher.
Think Gustav but worse.

another question is does a stronger storm than expected get more influenced by the ridge and causing a path more along the lines of the more westward models

The 06z ensemble cluster analysis shows a stronger system earlier on tracks more towards the right side of the spread, landfalls quicker, and has a bit lower intensity potential.

There was an upper level recon mission this morning. That data should be included in the 12z models. The 12z NAM was initialized with a stronger ridge, so that might shift things a bit.

I never really worry about hurricanes. I know the destruction they cause and know there isn't anything you can do about it.
But this storm gives me a very very bad gut feeling.

Didn't NOLA finally remove like 28 Buicks and Cadillacs on top of 23 tons of Mardi Gras beads that had been clogging the pumps and drainage?

shite that update is not good news. If it’s a hurricane already when it gets in the gulf that’s not good it won’t have to reorganize its center after crossing Cuba

There’s nobody on the planet that would gladly take trees in their living room just so another city with worse infrastructure doesn’t have to deal with it lol. Your logic might apply to someone who doesn’t live in either place, but it’s not dumb for someone in BR not to want a major hurricane just so New Orleans doesn’t have to deal with it
