Gif or meme.
I had a smartass comment ready to go until I saw his son died.

Dude went broke paying for his son’s medical treatment, who ultimately died of leukemia in like 2001. 20+ years of drinking himself to death.
A very slow suicide.
Wow, that is awful. I'd never heard that story before. Hope this guy finds some peace, somehow.

I am a 90's guy and I never cared for Smash Mouth or any of those "Ska" bands. Reel Big Fish, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, etc. Hated all of it (except Sublime - they were decent).
EDIT: But I feel bad for Harwell.

We played the shite out of the first Smash Mouth and the first Sugar Ray albums. "Florence" is for some unknown reason a song that stays stuck in my head. Randomly I will just say, "Florence can you hear me, can you hear me Flo, Florence can you hear me?".
Hate for the guy and his family.

They made some catchy songs. Sad. RIP in peace

C'mon now. Let's not compare fricking Smash Mouth to Jimmy Buffett.

I promise to never listen to All Star again if it would just keep Steve Harwell walking on earth a little longer

Exactly. Smash Mouth had way more hit songs.

I got banned for a few days for making a joke about the Maui wildfires but the singer of Smashmouth’s impending death is fair game? What planet do we even live on???
The kind where 1 persons self inflicted death isn't viewed the same as a fire that killed significantly more people

Please get him a transplant he’s contributed more than enough to deserve it.

Yep, can't blame the guy for slow self suicide.

My understanding of liver transplant is that the designated recipient must be sober for a certain period of time prior to receiving the new liver. Steve was never able to stay sober long enough to get a transplant.
Ben Burnley (Breaking Benjamin) and Austin Winkler (ex-Hinder) both went down very similar paths with some of the same issues and were fortunate enough to get sober. Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom) was not so lucky, however.
Maybe I’m just a pussy teetotaler, but it’s always been very strange to me that we celebrate and make alcohol abuse a “fun” staple of modern culture.
