Hasn't been that way always, but we've been a single income household for almost 2 years now.

It's not always easy, but we find it's been much better for the kids.

My wife stays at home. Made sense when the kids were young and we can swing it so she still takes care of everything at home.

Maybe she’s so great she could teach classes on it and he could be a SAHD?

I wonder how his wife would feel about supporting a man entirely in this era of easy and rampant divorce

Like I said in the other thread. It takes a large amount of social conditioning and cognitive dissonance to hand over your kid to someone you wouldn’t allow to borrow your car for the same amount of time.
I said the same thing in the sleepover thread.

It was that way until the kids got a little older then she wanted to work. Still plays tennis with her friends but is able to go in when she wants on those days. I have no problem with this. She is a paralegal

Roll call - which OT'ers have a full-time parent at home for their child/children?

Checking in, just had our first child in December. Been married a little over 2 years now, I'm 35 and she's 31.

My wife was a pharmacy and compounding tech, and a part time gymnastics coach before she got pregnant. With the cost of child care going through the roof, it was almost cheaper for her to quit her job(s) than to send my newborn son to daycare. We decided the difference wasn't worth some strangers raising and handling our baby every day, and she quit.

We've had to cut back on a little of the unnecessary spending like having food ordered and delivered a couple times a week, but other than that we haven't struggled at all. I couldn't imagine sending my newborn son to a daycare every day, and I'm extremely grateful we have the means to make it work without that.

Single income here. We have a farm that we also work on and get a nice supplement from.

We plan on having 7 kids, plenty of cheap thrift stores nearby. Family who has kids a little older have sent us hand me downs. We’re ready, and don’t need more money

My wife was a stay at home mom until our youngest started school. She wanted to go back to work but have the same schedule as our kids. Thankfully the school needed a new office administrator. Kinda worked out perfectly.

Wife gave up her medical career when our kids started school. She has homeschooled them from kindergarten. One is straight A college student and the other straight A sophomore in HS. Took a lot of sacrifices but not one regret.

I have a term life policy, but I don’t think I’m going to die before it expires. Neither does the insurer; it is a cheap vehicle to protect from unforeseen events.

She wouldn’t want to, and rightfully so. It’s a bad contract for her and she would pay exponentially in a divorce.

This idea will not be taken well, but here goes.

Had women not flooded the work force then a man's salary would be higher. There would be only half the available work force, making the demand for labor higher.

Companies also saw an opportunity to hire women at a lower rate.

My accountant said that the Social Security tax is not favorable for a two income home.

Women do not know how good they had it before the "Liberation" movement. They were coerced into making their lives miserable, and today they blame men for their self inflicted misery.

That said, I prefer working under a female manager. They tend to be less aggressive, more trusting and understanding.

Would you let your wife have sex with another baw to get a broader perspective on lovemaking?

Nice reduction to the absurd. It’s not as if by working you don’t have primary involvement with your kids. A childcare provider simply augments you as a parent.

Women have lost sight of what it actually use to mean to be a housewife
Not really. We’re all different.

Most people don’t seem to appreciate, respect, or acknowledge housewives or stay at home moms. Some women are driven and goal oriented and careers outside the home give their lives meaning.
