Your kids slept til 8 or 9? You golfed? Who watched your kids while you were sleeping and golfing?
I am a stay a home dad. My daughter is up at 6am and doesnt stop until 8pm. I havent played golf on a weekday in the 3 years of her life. Its a not all that fun of a job and frankly working was much much easier. I have ZERO time to myself now.

I’m a stay at home grand dad with a wife who still works. Grand kids live out of town. I retired at 52.

I've been staying at home (still make the same as my gf) for a couple of months, and it sucks. There are only so many things you can do in a day/week.
But.....then you have women. They never run out of episodes of Real Housewives or Flip my House to watch. Watching TV for seven hours a day while folding one load of laundry has to be mentally exhausting

He could be referring to part time day care a couple days a week so kids can socialize, play, learn, etc, so he can get shite done (golf) etc.
But yeah, lots of holes in that story. Sleeping until 10? Riiight.

The fairer sex does not have the same ability to multitask that men do. Multitasking is a requirement of raising kids and this is why the ladies have a harder time being stay at home parents.

Friends wife has never worked a 40 hour week in her adult life. Kids are all over 10. Almost unbearable to go to their house bc she’s “a designer” and wants to show you here crafts. Like god you have a hobby but stop trying to dress it up.

My wife works most weekends, 12 hr days, so I get 2-day chunks of this experience and it can be exhausting, but once you have systems and routines in place, it isnt that hard.
My wife is on the cusp of making enough for both of us, I wouldn't mind giving this a try. And once child is school age, pick up something part time so I don't watch Judge Judy all day and get fat.
I have a feeling she'd resent that though.

When our youngest was still a toddler, I had a 3 month break between jobs(somewhat planned, but that's another story) and I kept her every day. Wife definitely resented it, and called/texted all day "cehcking in." I had a blast doing it once I got into a routine. It was pretty rough those first few weeks though.

Yes being a stay at home parent has challenges.
No it is not some amazing thing that should be considered as hard as a real job.
My sister is one. She literally does nothing half the day and loves it. She doesn't post stupid it's hard shite either though online. She soaks in the benefits and mocks us for having to work lol.

I wouldn’t mind being a stay at home dad at all.
Lift, work on cars, cook real man food - raise the kids to learn to do the same.
Hire an unattractive maid to handle the cleaning.

Wife worked til 7 or 730. So we kept the kids up later so she could have time with them. So bedtime was about 11pm during those years.
If they woke up earlier, I'd just put them in the pack n play in our room with a bottle & Nick Jr. on. Sleep til 8 or 9. Then get going.
Golf was great. 1 in a carrier the other on my lap to drive the cart.
Also, I'm 1 of those dads that if my kid is crying & I've already hooked up the diaper change, bottle, basic check-then I let them cry. It doesn't bother me a bit.
Change of clothes? Easy. Got sets packed. Do they match? Eh...don't care unless we are going some place specific.
Train your kids early. None of that whiney bullshite co mn es about in the 3s or 4s.
