It does seem like he's blame shifting a bit there. If not the concert venue showing them on the big screen, any one of a few thousand concert-goers could have filmed them on their phones and posted to social media.
It's rather bold of them to be in a public place together. They looked very comfortable prior to realizing what was going on.
