A third of that is going to plaintiff lawyers.

Using the BP funds for a different project would likely trigger the need for approvals and scientific analysis that may take several years.
We should change the state motto from "Union, Justice and Confidence" to "More Studies Needed".

Billy Nunguesser has been adamantly opposed to this project. Billy Nunguesser chose not to run for governor but was apocalyptic after the LA GOP made an extremely early endorsement of Landry.
This is 100% what happened

Kim Reyher, executive director of the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, said the organization was "disappointed by this development, but the river can still do what it’s always done: build and sustain land and life in our wetlands."
No it can’t Kim. We have levied it all off
to where all the sediment just drops right off the continental shelf.

Thread about the future of LA's coast not gonna get more than 2 pages, but a dumbass issue like trannies or straight bakers forced to bake a cake for gays would get 18 pages.
We are not serious people.

They will have studies run until all of the money was used for studies. Anybody familiar with LA has seen this happen a plethora of times.

I think that was her point, hence the disappointment. She said “can still” instead of “will still.”

Not taking Landry’s side, but this project doesn’t create but a small amount of land and it’ll take 50 years to do it. IDK what the answer is though
People treat this project like the solution to all of our costal problems. But it’s nothing more than putting a bandaid on an amputation.

Sidenote-
I've been all over Ascension parish the last 2 weeks and I was taken aback by the amount growth that has taken place there .
I'm aware that folks need a place to live but seriously we are building in areas that should not even have a chicken coop. Million dollar houses plopped right next to a swamp. What are you expecting to happen ?
Strip mall shopping areas along US61 from Bayou Manchac almost to Sorrento.
If you live in Ascension You Are Whistling Past The Cemetery .

That’s net land growth
Which means it stops the future land loss.
Realistically tbe land we lost is gone, this is about trying to stop future land loss

Can't mitigate the damages for all the other legacy lawsuits Carmouche has in the pipeline

Correct - it is also a 3billion dollar construction project that the taxpayers of this state do not have to pay for. Those never come around. The tax revenue lost from this in the areas south of NOLA and Belle Chase and the small business revenue that spills over from construction projects of this magnitude cannot be quantified. Now instead of taxpayers not paying anything, they are going to be on the hook for the over 500 billion dollars that is going to have to be paid back. Not to mention the dozens of lawsuits that will pop up from companies sitting on their hands for over a year waiting for this job that was approved to crank up. The lost revenue all around will be astounding.

Absolutely false. Travel to Mardi Gras pass and you will see the impact of diversion projects. Sitting on our hands will not solve the problem. He caved to special interest. The needs of the many out weigh the deaires of the few.

These clowns want to close Mardi Gras Pass, too.
Posted on 4/6/25 at 4:56 pm to ragincajun03
I’d be shocked if the money is still there.

Agreed. What are the needs of many? Can you quantify that?

Redevelopment of the fresh water and brackish marshes that serve as storm surge and overall hurricane dampeners for the rest of South LA
Posted on 4/6/25 at 5:22 pm to ragincajun03
This is just fricking sad.
The project had the potential to do things within a decade that could potentially start a domino affect o rebuilding an entire lost ecosystem. And at worse, would've slowed down the ongoing loss of marsh. Because of an oyster lease.
A fricking oyster lease.

So you, fat frick Nungesser and Dove need to GTFO out all this shite.....
Landry is only in on it because he and nungesser had a meeting during the election and this was the deal he made for Billy to back out of the race.
