My 14yo daughter spends at least $1000k per year at our local “starbys”.

Starbucks was doomed as soon as people started believing "barista" was an esteemed title and career choice. You pour fricking coffee in a cup at a place with a drive through.

I had coffee at a Starbucks recently to catch up with an old friend who was laid off in the spring. She spent a decade as a journalist and then a decade doing communications for F500 execs before taking a moonshot at a startup, which failed in year 2.

She is very bright, very personable and adaptable. She was having such a tough time getting in front of people for jobs that she applied at Starbucks just to have cash flow and had her application declined. Lol.

Highly sought after and talented CEO from what I understand. Had to turn around Chipotle after their food contamination issues.

I try to avoid Starbucks like to plague. They won't get a dime of my money.

I only intentionally go to Starbucks if I end up with a Starbucks gift card from a white elephant party or something like that, because they've already gotten paid for that gift card so it only gives them free revenue without any expenses if I don't use it.

Out here it's Dutch Bros. Or Human Bean. Or Moxie Java. Or any of the local spots. All with better coffee and better service.

This post caught my eye! I just moved to Boise about 6 months ago. You are right, there is much better coffee available. My wife and I had brunch at Rembrandt's in Eagle this past weekend and i was very impressed with how good the coffee was.

Like others have said, I can make much better coffee at home. I've been ordering from Huckleberry Roasters out of Denver and it is excellent coffee. Starbucks is just over-roasted, burned shite.

I drink black coffee and used to love starbucks and always get it. But it’s always painfully slow and the coffee is often burnt or not even hot.

I’d bet none of the unionized Starbucks survive this restructuring.

Honestly, once or twice at this point. To grab a seasonal latte. But they’ve gotten pretty stale with the flavors/drinks they release in that regard too. They no longer release the Gingerbread Latte or Eggnog Latte here either.

I mostly drink black coffee with a little flavored creamer these days. At home.

I may have been to Starbucks 2 or 3 times. Usually in an airport if it is the only place available.

Oddly enough the union one on Sherwood is surprisingly busy. Or maybe it just looks that way because they are slow.

Serving coffee is not a viable long term career plan unless you own the land it's made on, the equipment that is used to make it, or the brand on the sign (or all three). There just isn't that much margin even with charging $7 for a drink, and the employees are always on their feet which will be a problem as they age.

That union BS is a political thing and not based in reality.

Starbucks confuses the frick out of me.

They’ve opened like 4 new stores here in Wichita in the last year or so only to announce they’re closing stores. They remodeled one near me to eliminate dine in space only to announce they’re remodeling stores to encourage people to hang out.

Pick what the frick you want to do.

Barista is derived from the ancient Greek, originally meaning philosophy major.

Welcome to God's country. I'm the Boise area as well. Been here almost three years now.

Be sure to flip off anyone with a California plate to make sure they're welcomed properly here.

CC's is usually good but slow to expand
PJ's is consistent
7 Brew in Hammond, I'm sure coming to Covington soon - I'm a big fan of this one.
There is a CDM in Mandeville for the beignet fix
Dutch Bros will probably be somewhere along 190 soon

There are at least 2 independent coffee places in downtown Covington too, but one of them has a very Starbucks vibe when it comes to employees. Not knocking that since the folks who look like they could be Transtifa terrorists also seem to make some badass coffee.

Thomas Stanley or Dave Ramsey would want me to say "make coffee at home!!!"

You joke but some of the best coffee I've had was made by people that you'd assume had a COEXIST bumper sticker on their car and also fantasizes about killing normal people.
