LA has always seen an abundance of litter. I blame mardi gras. Mardi gras celebrates the throwing of trash on the street, with the understanding that someone else will pick it up. It permeates into the culture and subconscious of everyone else, coupled with the fact that they do not take pride in the environment.

Instead of speeding cameras we need litter cams and the penalties need to be harsh. $1000 fine and 40hrs of picking up trash.

St. Tammany keeps building cheap cookie cutter subdivisions and this is what happens.
Everyone who can’t afford the current market in Jefferson is heading over there. Plus you have all the chalmations who moved to Slidell. Only way to stop it is to stop building.

I don't disagree that there seems to be an increase in litter in St. Tammany. But interstate litter/median maintenance is not the job of the parish...the DOTD does that.
ETA:
And as bad as interstate litter is in Louisiana...it's probably 10x worse in Mississippi. Every time I drive through there, I'm completely astounded by the amount of trash. It makes Louisiana look clean

Everyone stay out of St Tammany. I am fed up with the leadership, crime, dismal education system, and homeless population. I am scared for my family's safety. It's so bad I stay home when dusk hits.

A significant amount of America drives through that corridor. I doubt most of that is from locals. I constantly see poorly packed trucks and trailers packed with personal belongings being hauled along there by vehicles with out of state license plates.

Forget the environment, many Louisianians don't take pride in themselves or their own homes, much less a ditch on the side of the road. If you trash your own body, why would you care about the environment?

Litter in St Tammany has been getting for a while, but has gotten much worse since the hurricane. They're hard arse workers, but the fact is Mexicans in town to repair roofs and make some money don't give a shite about littering.

People also shouldn't steal, rape and murder, yet political agencies are there to clean up after them. There will always be shitty people doing shitty things, but that doesn't mean we just leave and ignore it. That's why we have politicians and their agencies, and it's why we pay taxes to fund these efforts.

Well, I want government to focus on stealing, raping, and murdering first. And it seems like they struggle to get that right.
