So they called Brother Martin a bunch of 'crackas'?
What's crazy is that Brother Martin is probably the most truly diverse school in the city. I don't know the numbers, but Martin has always had a sizeable African American enrollment

This is just payback for the blackface a couple of years back.

They are doing a lot of damage control right now. There gonna be coaches let go and students expelled.
Doubt it, and the most that *should* happen is a slap on the wrist. If some chant offends you (especially if you are not connected with Brother Martin) then you have issues.

Thinking the head coach already got fired:

quote:
Reached by phone Monday, St. Augustine coach Nathaniel Jones declined immediate comment. He also did not verify or deny if he is still the head coach at the high school. Jones is in his third season at the school. He said he would release a statement later Monday.

I don't think this chant was directed at BM. I think it was more of a fire yourselves up chant that contained the N word.

And no one should think that being called a mean word gives them any special privileges.
You don’t like what the other team calls you? Show them up on the field.

Exactly what happened.
BM St. Aug has always been a decent rivalry. No need to inject all this SJW bull crap in to it.
I respect St. Aug and LOVED it when the school and alumni resisted calls fro the Arch Bishop to end Corporal Punishment.
They said it was part and parcel of St. Aug and not his business.
Well done St. Aug. I salute you.

Yes, that is what it seems more like.
Maybe the SJW community is starting to realize that they can't get upset at whites using those words, and not get upset when blacks use those words.

Double standards are ok sometimes

I bet they said the N word. Seriously, I know in college (not sure about NFL), but if a ref hears that word being used they will throw a flag. I saw it this weekend, I forgot what game I was watching (I think it was OSU vs Michigan St).
If I recall a OSU player got into a Mich st player's face and just said something. No pushing or anything and a flag was thrown. I am pretty sure the OSU player (both were black) used the N word.

so you’re saying St. Aug the most prominent all black team in New Orleans got in trouble for saying the N word?

Zero chance of that.

I wouldn't be surprised. A chant using that word makes more sense "knuckle up n---a", "we some pissed off n----".. Or they could have been using it to refer to Brother Martin. "frick those n----". Just a chant.. or something from a song..to get the team pumped.
They are a Catholic school. The higher ups (and likely older black people who don't agree with other blacks using the word to call each other) don't want that look.

N word was buried
quote:
In 2007, the NAACP held a mock burial for the N-word to symbolize its campaign to stamp out the word's usage. But it's proved to be a hardy foe.
