I see what you’re saying but I don’t think white people should use the N word. It would just be dumb of me to use an offensive word that I have no desire to use. I also think it’s dumb that white people are basically banned from using it. But I’m not going to cry about a double standard or pretend that I don’t know why blacks are allowed to use it.

When I was in the 7th grade we played McKinley Junior High in football. The quarterback drove up in his Cutlass and proceeded to throw 7 touchdown passes against us. He never had a huddle he called his plays at the line. His most common was “NGL, NGL on 2”

Considering all 7 passes were at least 40 yards it didn’t take too long to figure out NGL meant for the brothers to go long.

He had a full beard too.

Perpetually offended society. Who gives a shite what they were chanting?

It was weird reading the varied opinions. One person says never under any circumstance use the word. Another, it's fine for us. Yet another, not so much, it's all context, but in the arts and day to day banter, maybe okay. Like most things these days they tie themselves in knots.

My folks fought hard to not use it, not always successfully, but I got a beating if I did and for all the right reasons. My kids are better than me or my parents in these matters and one of the things I got right.

In my mind it's all about blood. He who sheds his blood with me this day is my brother. Anyone good enough for Christ's blood is good enough for me. In those scenarios we're either all Ns or none of us are. Either way we're all equal in the love of God.
