quote:Then why the retrieval ship in the vicinity and all the talk about inspecting the tiles? I thought they made a point to mention both.
Yes... it's a designed explosion to make sure it sinks to the bottom of the ocean

I don't think there was a retrieval ship, that was drone footage.
They sink them currently.

1st Launch of a V3. Maybe my anticipation didnt meet reality this go. Hopefully FL13 will fix the issue with the booster and the rvac loss on the ship.
It was the first launch for the pad, engines, booster, and ship.
It's pretty incredible it worked out so well honestly.
The data from the engine out on ship is definitely invaluable. Doubtful they'd have ever tried that if it wasn't required due to failure.

They had planned for 3 but one cut out early during the first burn.
Ah so it was one of the six that malfunctioned. Gotcha.

No. Elon is a Space alien stranded on Earth. All of his companies and efforts have been to build a ship to get back to his home planet. The reusable part is to efficiently ferry fuel to depots along his path home. It's not a perfect system, but he's working with what's available to him on Earth. We are a primitive sort of planet.
This is the season 2 reveal and plot of Pluribus…

Another failed launch for Space X. They sure don’t mind a ton of trial and error no matter the expense.

Wait, what?
Aside from a couple of hiccups this was a pretty raving success I’d imagine. They basically accomplished all the shite they were trying to do.

quote:Yep, I was wrong. I'm surprised some climate nutjob hasn't sued/made a big deal with the media over the amount of materials we dump into the ocean. With the extra propellant perhaps they could've (should've?) sent it into the earth's Pacific space dump instead of of the coast of NW Australia/S Indonesia. I'm not making an argument against today's outcome but I could see Greta and her simps pulling a stunt that puts them inside an exclusion area during future missions.

quote:Correct, one of the big three. I do wonder how quickly they can investigate, make adjustments, and roll it out to the launch pad. I think late 2027 was the target for A3 if everything went perfect between A2 and then. SpaceX will have to dedicate more resources to SS tweaks now, so does this push A3 back to early 2028? Or they are willing to do A3 without a turnkey lander from both contractors?
Ah so it was one of the six that malfunctioned. Gotcha.
