Clearly, Louisiana is in any contention not for the freebies that the State will give (in exchange for political goodies) but for the intelligence of the people in Louisiana.

He’s not wrong, but they are still selling fishing permits and from what I’ve been told, hunting leases will likely be retained for the near future.
That may change in certain areas, but it will not be completely closed off like most people believe.

This. Launch sites in the US have water to the east because of rocket trajectory. Russia and China have vast nothingness to the east of their launch sites.

Wrong. For orbital data centers, SpaceX needs to launch to a sun synchronous orbit. That is almost due south. Louisiana, with the wide open gulf directly to the south, is perfect for sun synchronous orbits. If orbital data centers come to fruition, sun synchronous orbits will constitute the vast majority of SpaceX launches.
This South Louisiana SpaceX facility will almost certainly include launch (and landing) sites. Not only that, it has the potential to be SpaceX’s main launch facility, and their largest launch and manufacturing facility by far.
With all of the land that they will have down there, if they buy out the Pecan Island area like they did in Boca Chica, there will be about 20 miles of buffer space between the launch sites and any people. That’s perfect for SpaceX.

SpaceX launches rockets from the California coast on an almost daily basis. I’m no expert on orbital mechanics but apparently it’s possible

This is also why I would think they would want to build data centers here. Just build it by a river and hook up a pump….done. All these people freaking out about water supply to cool them.
About 16 years ago my wife asked me why does everyone freak out about conserving water. This was during the Obama rise of save the planet. I told her what you are reading and hearing are all from skyscreamers who don’t live near rivers, marsh, and places where we are desperately trying to get rid of water.
Also sometimes it’s best for Louisiana to hoe themselves out. Like the LNG terminals. We got that because there were no protestors living here to prevent it.

Vandenberg SFB is on the Pacific coast & can launch rockets north, south, or west out over open ocean
