Everything I read online (which obviously must be true) said the Exxon site would be great for SpaceX to launch satellites into orbit. They need to launch on a north south trajectory. And that spot gives them the longest north/south path over the gulf that’s uninterrupted by land. It’s also about as middle of nowhere as you can get…if they end up launching rockets from there, these operations will be LOUD and they won’t be wanting to deal with constant noise complaints.

The employees at vermilion corporation have signed NDA’s.
The deal is done. Roughly 26,000 jobs, not sure how many are permanent. Purchased the entire 136,000 acres, will be a launch/test facility.

But 26,000??? How they gonna fit anything close to that number in Pecan Island?
My son spotted and spoke to some SpaceX employees at lunch in Broussard recently. I get the feeling there will have to be some kind of initial office/facility closer to a large metro area like Lafayette until they complete basic infrastructure down there.

I think the Intracoastal and surrounding areas will supplement this site. The 26K number is probably a number with support industries included. The engineering and innovating will be done elsewhere.
Getting materials in place, infrastructure, implementation, and regulatory approval will be the lure for Louisiana.

Starship launches will be a sight to see... and with this location much, much closer to us than Boca Chica aka Starbase... I will definitely have to get out there for a launch when they start
And as we've seen from how SpaceX operates already... they will build quickly and (relatively) cheaply to get up & running... then build the permanent structures later
ETA: Starship launches will turn Pecan Island into another tourist spot... people will come out to watch these things roll to the launch pad & take off
Anyone want to go in on a big hotel overlooking the future launch site?

Roomer has it that sauces say that SpaceX is going somewhere down by the bayou. Some baw sold some land to Elon.
