Palo Alto, CA is another prominent example of a highly restrictive zoning landscape, with 80% to 90% of its total residential land zoned exclusively for single-family homes. According to data compiled in the City of Palo Alto Housing Element, while single-family zones consume about 19% of the city's total total land area, dedicated multi-family residential zoning accounts for less than 3% of total land

Generally speaking I am opposed to government restrictions, but this kind of sounds like a good thing to me :dunno:

I would much prefer to live in a community with mostly single family homes, rather than apartment complexes.

if you don’t know what I&E is you certainly can’t offer any useful info on this plant to the OP. So why are you even in this thread?

There is no way for someone to know what you are asking about (and for them to know that they are unfamiliar with whatever it is that you are asking about), until they actually open the thread and read it. So if you are asking for help from other people, do them the courtesy of not using cryptic acronyms that at least half of the population won't understand without looking it up.

I looked up the acronym just now. A large percentage, if not the majority of this board are white collar. Do you really think that the majority of white collar workers are going to have any idea that this specialized acronym that is used to describe blue collar workers that work in plants means Instrumentation and Electrical? Be more considerate if you are going to ask for help from others.

Downvoted because I have no idea what I&E stands for, and I really don’t like it when people use acronyms that aren’t super common knowledge across all segments of the population. Stop being lazy and type it out.

In what way would it be twice the size of Perkins Rowe?

all because they City rightfully so won't allow them to build a massive Perkins Rowe type development on a tiny strip of land

This "tiny strip of land" is 58 acres. Perkins Rowe itself totals 47 acres, so :dunno:
I'm betting that is AI. Her eyes are Disney princess level unnaturally big.

re: Need a firm pillow recommendation

Posted by Gauge on 5/12/26 at 8:14 pm to
If you are a side sleeper, you want a pillow that provides more support and doesn't collapse down to nothing. If you are anything like me though, you also want a pillow that is super soft. Those two things are mutually exclusive. I searched and searched, but such a pillow does not exist.

What you need is two pillows stacked on top of each other. The bottom one is firmer and provides most of your support, and the top one is the softest pillow you can find (i.e. pure goose down with no feathers) and collapses down to almost nothing). The top pillow provides almost no support (the bottom pillow does that). This combination gives you a pillow that is the right height, but is still ridiculously soft and very comfortable.

I see there is a down vote to my post, but no explanation as to why the down vote. I definitely don’t know everything, so if there is something that is incorrect about my comment, I genuinely would like to know what it is. Give me your feedback please.

Echostar is another good backdoor way to invest.

This is correct. Roughly 80% of the value of Echostar stock is due to Echostar’s holdings of SpaceX stock. So if you buy $10 of Echostar stock, it’s kind of like buying $8 of SpaceX stock. It’s probably the best way to get exposure to SpaceX stock before the IPO.
There are so many incorrect assumptions made in that article that I don’t know where to begin. I won’t try to address them all, but what he says about launch corridors having to go due east only, SpaceX buying 136,000 acres for just a manufacturing facility (a facility that they don’t even need considering they already have manufacturing facilities at Boca and the Cape), that Starship will land on drone ships, etc. are all very wrong. Also, SpaceX has launched many rockets out of the Cape that either went South-East, or virtually due south (on both StarLink launches and sun synchronous orbit trajectories).

If SpaceX really did buy 136,000 acres, this is not just a manufacturing facility. It is likely a launch and landing facility, and far less likely would be just a landing facility. In either case, it may or may not include a manufacturing faculty (I’m not speculating on that, but it would be awesome if the do also build a manufacturing facility). But if they bought 136,000 acres, there is zero chance it is only a manufacturing facility (they also don’t need another engine test facility since they already have McGregor, so it’s not just manufacturing and testing either IF they really did buy 136,000 acres).

You don’t need anywhere near 136,000 acres if it’s just a manufacturing facility. You would want that much land if it is a launch and/or landing facility, but not if it’s just a manufacturing facility.

I wish I could give this more than one upvote. This is so right, and so few people understand it.
Would you rather have Sharron Weston Broome as our mayor? Because those are the choices.

Be smarter.

We've eaten there, and it was very good. At least as good as Superior; maybe better.

I hope this restaurant does well, but I really don’t think it will unfortunately. There is something kind of adventurous and nostalgic about going to the original Middendorf’s at its original location. You won’t have any of that at the new location.

I find that hard to believe. Must be a small fan group. If true, I would expect restaurants would offer cold boiled crawfish.

This is almost a good point, but not quite. One reason restaurants don’t serve cold crawfish is because customers wouldn’t know if they are fresh, which is no good.

I agree with the other posters that cold crawfish are as good as hot. Really though they are just different, and good in their own way. Maybe not 100% as good as hot, but like 98% as good as hot.

The fact that they are just different though is actually a plus. It means you’re not having the same meal two days in a row. So in the end, cold crawfish are damn good.
This makes the very faulty assumption that the company actually cares about having someone to blame. The company doesn’t care about having someone to blame, They only care about the results that come from the screwup. And in your scenario, the results that come from the screwup are the exactly the same regardless of whether you’re talking about AI or humans that make the screwup.
Can you please elaborate on what you did?
I have to ask - why would they pay you to leave? If you are providing any value to the company at all, why on earth would they pay you even $1 to leave? If you are valuable, they would pay you to stay, not to leave.

There are a number of mutual funds that seem to offer exposure to private shares purchased in the secondary market. The question is - why would you want to?

I'm not sure I understand your question. I want to because I think the value of those stocks will go up. Why wouldn't I want to?
