I get the feeling that it will be a recovery, fabrication, and/or testing location. Similar to NASA Michoud. Not necessary a launch site. Probably will have a small physical footprint and a massive buffer zone.
Regarding the politicians, SpaceX is well ahead of the game on this one. LA Legislators passed some very generous tax exemptions for Aerospace companies this past session. That's one of the main things sparking the Space X to Vermilion Parish rumors.

Everything I've seen says it is land currently owned by ExxonMobil. The site will be for launch and recovery. The primary launch targets will be the polar regions which are becoming more and more important on the geopolitical stage.

I heard on the radio that the Vermillion Parish Rotary Club is having a meeting soon about potential Space X opportunities but they reiterated nothing is official it’s only exploratory discussions.

Yes. Elon is buying up all the property in deep south LA next to the gulf. I know a family not wanting to sell but he has Elon money so it’s only a matter of time

You would think with established waterways and sites for the previous space programs as well as our shipbuilding capabilities that space x would have interest here. Our politicians are provaly going to frick it up though

Not sure about there but west of there oil and natural gas is gone, depleted. Pipelines just like near Brownsville. But SpaceX could barge LNG from Cameron rather than build its own tinker toy LNG plant amounting to a natural gas nitrogen rejection unit
