The Venn diagram overlap of Lindsay Clancy supporters and idiotic Facebook commenters on this is likely very large. AWFL's hate the idea of bold American projects, they want all funding diverted a DEI dystopian wasteland instead.

How is this gonna impact the rice festival?
Jokes but hopefully this long term helps Acadia Parish schools somehow

- This is going to ruin the environment!
(this is the low-hanging fruit uninformed knee-jerk response)
- Every ill of the state needs to be addressed before this project
(where do you think money to do projects comes from?)
- They didn't let us vote on it
(since when do you vote on every project a company undertakes?)
Just annoying. I know we can screw lots of shite up, but this finally feels like something hugely positive for the state. State changing huge.
Ah yes. The good ole, Louisiana Last people

Heck just the 3,000 permanent jobs and maybe more than that could sustain a town or small city. They will probably do something similar how they did in Boca Chica. They created a town from nothing and now they have a city with a mayor

Easily 100% of those people pissing and moaning with the same points are basing this off their hatred for Elon and nothing else. Screw em.

I wonder what the freeze dried boudin and cracklins will taste like up in space for those astronauts

A general rule of thumb is that each new direct job supports roughly 1 to 2 additional support jobs.
Everything from daycare, dentist, food worker, etc

Elon/SpaceX will single handily do more for coastal restoration and wildlife preservation than any other organization has ever done for Louisiana.

The environment thing gets me. At Canaveral you drive through miles of marsh on the way to the site. You see alligators, herons, and all sorts of other birds.
Then there are people who think it’s going to give them cancer.
The ones I can understand is the politically cynical. Given Louisiana’s history, you can’t blame them.
Hopefully we can get some of our kids to move back home.

This is as close as you could imagine to some angel flying down with high paying jobs, coastal restoration and infrastructure in a landscape financially unsustainable due to storm risks.

This is cool and all, but when will the Buc-ee's open?
Posted on 8/25/26 at 12:45 pm to RaginCajunz
I am not sure any of us truly understands the potential impact of this.
Its great.

It's easier when you realize that they environmental people have to finds ways to justify and legitimize their profession to keep the cycle going.
I don't see them going over to Asia and facing the actual environmental atrocities over there. They literally dump truckloads of garbage in the rivers.

Because you can't enforce laws that don't exist. Vs in the US where we have laws and regulations in place to protect public health as much as practical.
Those laws are good. The problem is when the enviro groups overreach and use lawfare; they rarely will win and it does nothing but slow down the process.

the coonasses will have to get used to the boat exclusion areas around the flight path. Given the projected rate of launch cadence, they will probably just make those areas permanently off-limits to boating. I can see some ruffled feathers happening about that, but people will adjust.
