Southwest Airlines pre boarding may be broken again

At Love about to board for MSY
There are currently 26 pre-boarders lined up
Crazy thing is the board says the flight is only about 60 percent full

Perhaps it had already started its decline by that point, but I think one of the biggest casualties of Covid was the absolute enshittification of SWA.

I don’t get the infatuation with getting on a plane early.
You now get an assigned seat. WGAF when you board to go sit in your cramped seat for this short flight, or if it’s after a bunch of the other people in this cattle haul?

I really can’t stand the free for all for overhead bins when I pay to sit in a specific seat. Time and time again I get to my row up front and the bin is full despite nobody in the same row has taken their seat. Talk to a flight attendant about it and they say well just find an open overhead bin in one that’s still got space past the row you’re sitting in. Oh great, so your solution is to have me sit and wait till everyone gets off the plane before I can retrieve my bag. Defeats the whole purpose of buying a seat up front. How about you glorified cocktail waitresses make sure when people board that they don’t put their bag in an overhead bin that’s not directly in their assigned seat’s row?

Exactly. At least I'm not sitting in a middle seat in the last row with my A31 boarding pass
A flight to Memphis recently there were dozens of women in wheelchairs lined up that were young enough to have several small children in tow. So a bunch of "handicapped" 25 year olds. Some obese some just in their pajamas and bonnets. Frustrating.
I'm a champion of the assigned seats. Their pre-board policy was bullshite.

Southwest absolutely sucks now. Prices skyrocketed. Older planes. No more free bags. Not worth it.
