I am being completely honest on this forum, so no need to worry. I honestly know that SU was the correct choice for me.

Tell us why you registered over a year ago and your first post was starting a thread at midnight on a Friday night. Try again.

You're making fun of su engineering program and people don't even realize it. It's no secret that the program is lacking. This thread isn't funny.

Never said he shouldn't join a larger interest group either. Sad that that's what you assume.

Sounds like he wants a job because he's an engineer but you take suggestions like that as racist. Says more about you than I potna.

I agree with the NSBE downvote here, it's interpreted as a statement, rightly or wrongly that scares off some legitimately otherwise color-blind organizations. You don't need it and, frankly, we (society) don't need it.

Good luck.

Hasn't scared off any of the organizations that employ some pretty damn good engineers I know. Like ,ore than 20.

So what do u really know? If they think like you and are run by close minded people like you, then perhaps they are turned off

Okay, when I first registered for the Forum, I never bothered to figured out how to post messages. I mainly just read the forums.

If it helps I can post my acceptance letter to SU grad school. LINK

As for Louisiana Tech

When I first registered on this site, I didn't post for over a year and half, maybe two years. In fact, I couldn't even remember the password.

I have a dream that engineers will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their work.

Well I'll be damned. You are something else. I apologize and carry on. I don't like racists here and in real world obviously. Good luck.

Find out what company has the most Southern alums, and intern. Engineers tend to be very loyal to their fellow alums.

The best electrical engineers I ever met were master electricians prior to being degreed and the best experience I received as a civil was working for my dads construction company and then interning at Boh Bros during college.

I recommend you call every elec service firm you can and ask for a part time gig as a helper.

I will look into DOW Chemical, although I thought they primarily hire Chemical Engineers.

Honestly I never really wanted to do Physics + Grad School but hey why not make the best of it.

I have heard of electrians changing careers to EE. I will look into service industry stuff.

Some experience with that could open other doors like you said.

Really bad time for it, but oilfield service companies aren't a bad career choice for an engineer. They aren't picky about particular degrees and you don't need a 4.0 from MIT or anything. You could be making 6 figures within 5 years and have a shot at getting on with a major iperator like Shell, Chevron, etc.. It does take a hands on person. And obviously the market is volatike, but ive only seen one engineering degree be let go and he had a reputation for slacking.

That's sounds right up my alley. My only concern is what do you mean by volatile.

Just curious. Why do some people loathe SU. It is not a bad school. It has a more relaxed atmosphere than some universities but it produces good graduates.

I honestly wanted a break from the tense atmosphere of Northern LA. And I know I will bloom into the engineer I can be at SU.

It's funny that strong safety is giving some of the best advice in this thread knowing his reputation on this board. Also, Lsu480 is extremely racist and thinks very low of black people. Just a little heads up before you go take his advice.
